Does anyone know if Reno is going to retire anytime soon or will he coach for a lot longer? I've heard different things about him and retiring and I just wondered how much of it is truth and gossip.

Manaze and SOS-- I see that you finally got the Creek thread deleted. I'm not surprised. I followed your discussion last night and it was disgraceful.

Don't pull that stuff on this thread!

HAHA you crack me up.
If it bothered you so much why would you bring it up?
I think you enjoy it and by making this comment you are trying to pour fuel on the fire.

If they do "Pull That" are you going to tell on them or just beat them up?:P

Why has SOS gone from pitching a tent for the Mighty Big Red to bashing them everyday???? Not that I'm sorry, we have plenty of fans to load the bandwagon after their teams come up short. But who from Big Red drained in his cornflakes????

No, I didn't enjoy it. It was terrible.

If they pull that crap on here, I will complain to the mods and try to get them banned.

SOS always gets his "misinformation" from his "friends" or "Big Red Boosters".

Put it this way though, just like in business, when you have the ability to control the terms of a contract you do it, if the other party has leverage, they use it.

Obviously Indian Creek had no leverage, since we didn't need them, they needed us. Watkins was the one that wanted the game, so he got it, on Big Red's terms. Nobody forced IC to sign the agreement. They wanted to be on the big stage, so they accepted.

I'm not too familiar with Fairmont State. Is it a Div. II school that gives scholarships? And did Sage and Trey get them?

They are a DII school in the WVIAC. Same as West Lib, Wheeling Jesuit, Glenville state. They should give out money for sports since it is a DII school. I would think that those 2 got some money

So Big Red put three players into college on scholarships. That's not bad. I hope all three do very well, both athletically and academically.

So the school didn't release the 2010 schedule this week? I think I know what it is, but I won't post it here because I am not absolutely certain.

I'm looking forward to football season!

I think that they have verbal agreements with everyone on the schedule, but are waiting for the signed contracts before making it official.

But going by other teams' websites, you can count on Massillon, Inkster, Park, Morgantown, and Ursuline, and I'm pretty sure about Buchtel, since we had them under contract last year (which is why they were in Wheeling the same day we were). So that leaves weeks 3, 4, 9, and 10 to fill. I'd say the 2 Buffalo teams will be back. Fill in the other two with the rumored teams, and there ya go.

I don't know about St. Joe's. Two months ago Reno said on TV that week 4 was open. That is the week that we have been playing St. Joe's.

And what about East Liverpool? First I heard from a Liverpool poster that they would drop us after the 2010 game. Then I heard from a Big Red person that they have already dropped us. I don't know who to believe.

EL is gone. The two Buffalo teams are flexible and can play us in any week that we need them to.

On highschoolsports.net EL's schedule shows them playing Ytown East in week 3, so we are gone.

d.woods, I think it is something like this, Inkster, Buchtel, open, open, Morgantown, Park, Massillon, Ursuline, open, open.

I'm really surprised about EL. They are the only local team that has given us any competition over the past ten years or so. Plus the games have been money makers for both schools.

Oh, well, we will just have to bring in another team from Nova Scotia.

Inkster should be down this year. They not only lost Gardner, but they lost some other key players. We should take them.

Buchtel has given us some good games in the 2000's, but they are not like the teams that beat us in the late 1980's. We should take them.

St. Joe's (if we play them), O'Hara, and Wheeling Park have seldom given us any real competition. The three teams have never beaten us, and I don't think anything is going to change this year.

Morgantown may provide us with some computer points, but they are not up to the level of competition as Ohio schools. Big Red hasn't lost to a West Virginia team in at least forty years. Nothing will change.

Massillon is going to be tough. They don't lose many games at home. Since Massillon is dropping Iggy, I think both teams will be undefeated going into week 7. This will be a real test for Big Red.

Ursuline will not be a pushover. They are the two-time defending Div. V state champs. Like Big Red, they reload, they don't rebuild. It should be a very tough game.

The remaining teams will probably be like Fairview. They may give us some computer points but probably not much else.

Overall, I don't think this will be as tough a schedule as we had last year. In 2009 we played four good teams. This year I'm only worried about Massillon and Ursuline. But I have been wrong before, so we will just have to see how my predictions pan out.
