I am not a Notre Dame fan at all, but I think college football is better when teams like them, FSU, and Nebraska are powerhouses. Maybe it is just because that is what I grew up watching, but it just seemed like college football was better then.

I've seen that clapping man show up quite a few times on different threads. Am I missing something?

As much as I dislike Colin Cowherd he was right on when he said Jim Harbough is getting a ton of credit for Stanford winning and Weis is getting killed yet both have the same academic restrictions. ND needs to make a choice either lower the academic restrictions to be more competative with the football powers and entice a great coach to come in or realize this is what we are under the current the system we have and no coach can change that.
Academic restrictions is the biggest cop-out in the world.

Numerous other programs with fine academic reputations have had plenty of success lately, whereas ND has not.

The Sooner Booster faithful ain't lettin' Bobby go without some big counter-offers which he will end up accepting. Brian Kelly is your next HC - Rock Knute - and you'll be lookin for another one in 3 years from now.

Again, it won't be Brian Kelly. He's sitting tight waiting for the Michigan job to come open.

Maybe he has inside info like the poster that said Stoops was going to be ND's next coach. That guy seemed to have a good lead since there is a lot of speculation that Stoops is headed to ND.

Brian Kelly is one of those flash - in- the - pan guys who has a couple good years at a mid-level school and all of a sudden he's the next Bear Bryant! Then some big time school with an idiot AD (read Notre Dame) comes along and hires the schmuck and expects miracles (again...read ND). The poor doofus has no contemplation for the amount of public / booster / media management that is required at an institution like ND...he thinks he's been hired to coach football! Stoops will turn it down...saying he was never interested in the first place and get $12 - 15M more tacked on to his current contract. Then ND will hire Kelly and in 3 years we are all talking about the same thing again. The days of Irish football being relevent on the National scene went out with "I Like Ike" buttons. Get used to it Domers and you'll all be alot happier playing Navy, Pitt, Stanford...etc. and it won't be the end of the world when you lose because that is the level of football you SHOULD be playing. YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE TEAMS NOW...live with it.

Do I sense a bit of disdain towards Notre Dame? :D You spelled "relevant" incorrectly, does anyone else find that ironic?

Even funnier is the "I Like Ike" part. Since Eisenhower ended his second term in 1961, Notre Dame has won four AP National Championships (1966, 1973, 1977, and 1988). During that same time, Ohio State has two (1968 and 2002).

Can you get any stupider?

Obviously sarcasm is lost on this braniac. In most folks eyes 19 - f'n - 88 might as well be the Eisenhower years gramps...because it was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away compared to today's CF picture. They just fired Front Butt Chuck a few minutes ago...who's the next sacrificial lamb?

Ummm, there's been quite a few other storied programs who went a long long time between winning NC's. Prime example is OSU.

That's what really makes you Domers look even dumber...it ain't just about NC's rock_ for brains. Its about winning enough games in the regular season just to be considered respectable. And the blue n gold aint got it done for a decade now. You just aren't a top-20 program anymore and you can't live with it, so you go thru this musical coach routine every few years.

Don't pull the "it was sarcasm" line with me dipshit. You got called out and proved incorrect.

Gramps? That's funny. I'm one year older than you, and apparently in that time I have learned not to make dumbass remarks like yourself.

How in the hell do you know how old I am Methuselah? And even a child could see I was using sarcasm but an old crotchety Irish potato - head it is lost upon.

Why wouldn't Brian Kelly want the Michigan job when it opens(can't see Dick Rod getting it turned around there, .500 next year won't cut it). He's already been a head coach at Grand Valley St. and Central Michigan, will know what that job entails, what it means to the people in that state, and he'll recruit the shit out of it.

If we want to be fair, it took Florida around 90 years to win their first National Championship.

But because of what they've done in the last 15-20 years, that's what their program is known for.
