I'd say he has changed the Congressional politics for the worse. After seeing the success enjoyed by the Republicans with their "just say no" policy, I fear that it will become the tactic for all minority parties. He could have avoided this by throwing the election and letting McCain deal with the mess. Of course, John would have had a heart attack after seeing what shit shape we were really in and the quitter would be President today. There would be no Tea Party, no govt. takeovers of private business, I could just go on and on. Damn you, Barry!

That said I disagree with both parties on this. Elections have consequences and congress should give deference to that. Unless a nominee is an imbecile or there is legitimate reasons to obstruct the president's nomination, he/she should be confirmed.
Agreed 100%. I always say unless there are pictures of the nominee fornicating with livestock, they get confirmed.

I dunno, fish. If we are willing to just turn our heads and let anyone be confirmed, then we deserve what we get. Elections have consequences, but they don't give someone the right to put avowed communists in roles not requiring congressional approval nor nominate activist judges that feel it's their Constitutional right to legislate from the bench, rather than judge the acts against a hard, fast, time-tested treasure that should only be modified by the people, not by people in black robes.

Anything that stops the federal government from functioning is a good thing at this point. I want those scum to bicker for a year about what brand of toilet paper to put in the cans on Capitol Hill, and never have the chance to work out a new social program or massive spending bill or government takeover.

Agreed, out of control spending and unchecked power has been a problem for decades, but this is a moment when Americans are so backed against a wall they won't (and shouldn't) tolerate it. This country is in the worst shape it has been in my lifetime, and has the worst political class in my lifetime. I don't know if that woman from Delaware is as big of a kook as some say, but even if she is, how is she worse than half of Congress now?

Define federal government? Or are you just referring to domestic items?
Because, I want our Defense, Energy, Intelligence and Homeland Security areas to get functioning.

Why not shut it down? Why not make it a priority to get our spending in order? For too long it's been business as usual, no matter whom is in charge of D.C. Maybe we need a real crisis....maybe a little revolution...to get us back on track. I'm fine with making the economy enough of a priority to actually get some action that will fix it and not spend us into the tomb.

So, you don't want a defense budget next year then? Or, do you want a continuation of current spending? What about plans for future platforms, like the F35, new bomber, new Nuclear sub, etc. Would those stop?

The sad reality is we live in a hostile world. If every nation on earth held the same American world view we wouldn't have a major need for a strong national defense. But in order for the elusive "American Dream" to remain alive, we have to insure the irrational anti-American douche bags don't screw with that idea.

Although some major overhaul needs done on the abuses of the military industrial complex (yeah I know...like that's gonna happen) to help decrease obscene defense spending, our best bet is to curb entitlement spending...and there's plenty of so-called "discretionary spending" that needs to be flat out eliminated.

Agreed. I just don't get the stop all federal spending. You have to parse it out. Entitlement and some domestic spending are the areas to focus on. Defense is a tough one to start to cut, look at Gates's new budget for next year, and see how flak he gets. But, it needs adjusted, not stopped.

This is obviously an older clip, but the message is still clear to this very day.
- this also can be a reminder to those who still ask the insipid question: "what have the republicans offered?"

It's impossible to unite a country that was designed to be separated.
Separated by politics
Separated by religions
Separated by class
Separated by race
I can go on and on but won’t. The control system was designed that way a long time ago.
Do you speak your own words or words provided to you?

See here I disagree. If you put 2 people together in a room, eventually they will identify themselves by their own description and individuality. It has very, very little to do with separation.
Take country/government out of the equation: you still have people who self-describe.

I might be democrat, you might be libertarian.
I might be methodist, you might be catholic.
I might be poor, you might be rich.
I might be of asian ancestory, you might be of african.

The government doesn't determine those things. We do.

I agree but that separation is indoctrinated into us almost from day one. That keeps our Predators in control of us.

Every news station needs their own brand of Jack Cafferty for their editorials. I think he's brilliant.
