Chances are most Orrville posters didn't even know Genoa existed prior to 2009. Same thing goes for Genoa.
As for the argument, I'll feel free to stay out of it. I'm more than convinced that there is nothing I can say that will make any Orrville fan say "Gee I didn't think of it that way, maybe I'm wrong." However I will say that Genoa already has a good tradition and a healthy program. Beating Orrville is not the measuring stick for what makes a good program.
First off, I will bet money on it that a lot of people on here know all about Orrville football, that is because of the tradition and succuss we have had in high profile playoff games against other excellent football programs, you are one person and can not speak for everyone on this site. As for me, I did know about Genoa before last year because I am a highly educated high school football fan, and know a lot of things most fans do not know. What you guys have done the past few years is pretty impressive....yes you have dominated everyone in the regular season, and yes you can say we can't get out of our league to join a better one. But you are a division IV team that is playing teams in div V and VI, so you should be dominating in the regular season. As for the Genoa football program, it has not had much success before Vicars got there, so the past few years you guys have had a lot of success, and very rightly shoulf be proud of that, nobody is taking away your records the past few years, but lets look at the past decade what you have done:
From 1990-1999 you had no playoff appearances, even though you finished in the top 8 twice (94, 98) that was before they started taking 8 per region.
2000; 3-7 no playoffs
2001; 1-9 no playoffs
2002; 7-3 no playoffs
2003; 1-9 no playoffs
2004; 2-8 no playoffs
2005; 3-7 no playoffs
2006; 3-7 no playoffs
2007; 9-1 1-1 in playoffs
2008; 10-0 3-1 in playoffs (state semis)
2009; 10-0 1-1 iin playoffs
2010; 4-0...?
in the 2000's
Genoa is 49-51
Orrville is 57-42
So what this tells us is that in the last 20 years, Genoa has made the playoffs a total of 3 times, and their record in those games has been 5-3 with 1 Regional Championship and a state semi appearance.
In that same time period, Orrville has made the playoffs 1990 9th, 1992 10th, 1994 11th, 1995 12th, 1997 13th, 1998 14th, 1999 15th, 2003 16th, 2004 17th, 2005 18th, 2006 19th, 2009 20th, for a total of 12 trips; in 1996 we were 8-2 but due to a player being ineligible, we had to forfeit 2 games so the record was 6-4 and were not in the playoffs). That is 4 times the amount of Genoa.
In those playoff appearances Orrville has managed to go to;
Regional final trips: 6
State Semi Appearances: 4
State Chamionship Appearances: 2
State Championships: 1
During that same span the overall record has been 129-71 with a playoff record of 17-11.
That is a football program. Genoa is on the right track to having a very successful, and well respected football program (if the players stop getting unsportsmanlike penalties, stop giving obscene gestures to fans, and being arrogant fans),but due to the lack of playoff appearances, playoff wins, and success over the past 20 or so years, Genoa is still trying to make a name for themselves. I guess what I am trying to say is 3 years does not make a football program! Facts are facts and they do not lie. Make it to a few state championships, maybe even win one or two, and have more than a few years of success, then we can talk about comparing football programs, but unitl then Orrville is the better "program" and team by far and we proved that to you last year.
