Simple question: not what actor, but who is your favorite movie character?

I'm watching Inglourious Basterds, and I'd have to say that Lt. Aldo Raine is my favorite of all time.

Dirty Harry could kick Aldo Raines balls so high he'd have to gargle with them

Hmm hard to pick one.

Off the top of my head I'd have to say Tyler Durdern and Ferris Bueller

'Hit Girl' is absolutely dangerously scary and hilarious.

I also like 'Bill Murray' when he plays 'Bill Murray' in "Zombieland". Gracious even in his death throes.

Sorry folks... but we have a tie for first.
Axel Foley
John McClane
Harry Callahan
Casey Ryback
Hannibal Lecter

This is just for starters... and the character has to have appeared at least twice to qualify IMO. This has eliminated Wade Garrett from Roadhouse.

Several characters from Pulp Fiction could be considered.

Also:

Tyler Durden
Nigel Tufnel
James Bond

I liked Michael Douglas' character in Wall Street = Gordon Gekko!

But the answer has to be Jules Winfield from Pulp Fiction :)

My favorite movie characters tend to be the main antagonist in most films. . . I don't know why, I just think the bad guys leave a much more lasting impression.

William Cutting "Bill the Butcher" - Gangs of New York (Daniel Day Lewis)
Daniel Plainview - There Will Be Blood (Daniel Day Lewis)
Drexl Spivey - True Romance (Gary Oldman)
Stansfield - The Professional (Gary Oldman)
Nick - A Perfect Getaway (Timothy Olyphant)
Kelly - The Girl Next Door (Timothy Olyphant)
Carl Spackler - Caddyshack (Bill Murray)
Jake Taylor - Major League (Tom Berenger)
Billy Chapel/Crash Davis/Roy MacAvoy - For Love of the Game/Bull Durham/Tin Cup (Kevin Costner)
Alex Forrest - Fatal Attraction (Glenn Close)
Gordon Gekko - Wall Street (Michael Douglas)
Sgt. Barnes - Platoon (Tom Berenger)
Hannibal Lectar - Silence of the Lambs (Anthony Hopkins)
Frank Ricard - Old School (Will Ferrell)
Jack Torrance - The Shining (Jack Nicholson)
The Joker - Batman/The Dark Knight (Jack Nicholson/Heath Ledger)
Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore - Apocalypse Now (Robert Duval)
John "Bluto" Blutarsky - Animal House (John Belushi)
John McClane - Die Hard (Bruce Willis)
Jules Winfield - Pulp Fiction (Samuel L. Jackson)
Winston Wolfe "The Wolf" - Pulp Fiction (Harvey Keitel)
Mr. Blonde - Reservoir Dogs (Michael Madsen)
Quint - Jaws (Robert Shaw)
Indiana Jones - Harrison Ford
Bryan Mills - Taken (Liam Neeson)
Billy Costigan - The Departed (Leo Dicaprio)
Danny Archer - Blood Diamond (Leo Dicaprio)
Frank Costello - The Departed (Jack Nicholson)
