I went to KI with the girlfriend for a couple of days over the weekend. It was the first time I had been there since '95 I think. We had a great time. Diamondback is impressive. The Beast was incredible. Only bad thing was the crowd on Saturday because of the Lynard Skynard concert. And the heat, too.

Anybody else hit up any amusement parks or coasters this summer?

We always go to cedar point at least once a year. I was at Kings Island 2 years ago, and was not impressed. The new coaster wasn't there yet, but we really didn't enjoy any of the coasters they have. Either they were unimpressive, or so rough that you never wanted to ride them again. I'm anxious to hear what CP will be building next year. They are supposed to announce it later this month.

I went to cedar point this year for the first time in 6 years and only rode 5 rides in 8 hours. Millennium force kept breaking down and it started raining while in line. Waited 2 hours and never rode it. I wont be going back anytime soon. Top thrill didn't run much either that day

KI rocks!!. Went there a few weeks ago and the teenage sons had a blast. Diamondback was awesome they said, and The Beast is still a top 10 coaster.

The Beast feels like it is completely out of control. Still love that one. Like I said, I hadn't been there in a while, so Firehawk and Flight of Fear were both new to me. I was really impressed with Flight of Fear. A couple of the rides were down for a little bit on both days, but we still rode everything in 2 days.

I haven't been to CP in a couple of years either. How is the Maverick? I've heard good things about it.

I haven't been to CP in a while; seems like everyone goes there and you gotta wait forever for top rides; almost half your day.

I'd much rather go to Kings Island. Its closer to Columbus, a little bit cheaper on admission prices most of the time, plus I think I get a lot more rides on certain bigger attractions.

Yep been to CP 4 times already this year. My longest wait was around 90 minutes for TTD cause I was with someone who had never done it and we had to ride it in the front. Should be making a trip to KI here soon.

You have to go to CP at the right time. I've gone twice and never waited more than 90 minutes. We rode pretty much everything twice in a day.

The Beast is still my favorite of all time. I like the Firehawk and am anxious to try the Diamondback.

Is the Son of Beast still open or is it closed? I absolutely hated it...it beat the living shit out of you.

I went to Cedar Point on a day when it was supposed to storm all day and we ended up riding Millennium Force like 20 times. TTD was only a 25 minute wait for the front seats.

I can't ride the Beast anymore. I literally almost couldn't walk after the last time. I'm too damn tall and big for that stuff.

If anyone thinks KI is a worth a shit has never been to Cedar Point. I always go on a Sunday during Halloweekends because no line is longer than 30-45 minutes and they have a couple nice haunted attractions. I have stayed away from the summer recently to avoid 1-2 hour lines for the coasters.

I like Cedar Point, but for a family with some younger kids, KI is definitely worth the trip....very nice park. Just not as good of a coaster park.

Kennywood is the shit for families.

However, I am all about some Cedar Point during Halloweekends.

^ I can't stand Kennywood. Granted, I don't have a family, but I don't think I liked it when I was little either.

It wasn't a "Lynard Skynard Concert" it was Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert. Charlie Daniels,Micheal W Smith and Skynard were there and by comparison it really wasn't that hot that day.

I've never been to CP and I'm not likely to ever go. It's just too much to drive the entire distance of Ohio to go to an amusement park when I can drive to KI in around 3 hours. Besides, I'm not that much of a roller coaster enthusiast anyway, no way I'd get on those big rides at CP.

Cedar Point is literally the best Roller Coaster park in the world though so it would be worth it to make it a weekend sometime. Could do that and Kalahari or something. Maybe toss in some fishing.

I was gonna say it's definitely worth the drive, but if you don't like the big boy rides you are correct it's not worth your time. :)

My bad there, Skyhook. I thought it was warm. I guess that is really subjective. Maybe I'm not that tough.
And I knew it was a Sean Hannity Freedom Concert. I just didn't type it all out. I don't have a problem with Hannity, it is a really nice project that he has going on. I believe the funds go to scholarships for children of soldiers killed in combat.. It just brought a lot more people to the park. In fact, a lady that was working by the front gate said that the park was staffed to deal with a record crowd last Saturday.

Like I said, I had a really good time there.

And it really is a shame to see the Son of Beast just standing out there.

I'm not really a big fan of Kings Island. I have only made it there once so far in 3 years of being within half hour away.

I haven't been to KI since I was a kid. I wouldn't mind going back but CP is still GOAT. I used to get a pass every year and would go 15-20 times. The past few years I have been lucky to make it up there once or twice. I still need to make a trip this year but I'm waiting for school to start so I can go on a weekday when it's empty.
