Justin, you should be able to lay out 12 cards on a standard 8.5x11 piece of paper. I've had to make my own for work when I run out. I either grab some cardstock here and print them, or go over to Kinko's and get them printed on stock. It's pretty inexpensive, and it's much better than regular paper. They're also easy to cut out since it's just one big grid.

If you do that, people can take the template and do it that way. Then you don't have to worry about shipping them, and whoever wants to do it can participate. I think I had 12-15 sheets printed for about $3.

Really though, if you are passing out cards by hand, you can always promote the site as an off-shoot of JJHuddle and tell people that it used to be called FreeHuddle. The devil site can't control our speech.

If you make a business card template that people can print from home, try not to have too much color in it so it doesn't eat up a ton of ink. GoRock's example with all that blue on the back would keep me from printing it at home. A pdf file that you take to Kinkos would be best. Front and back templates would need to have registration guide marks so the copies line up correctly on both sides. I've printed one-sided business cards at home using photo paper which gives a card stock feel to it and glossy finish.

I guess I don't really understand why you have such a hard-on to make that association. Who cares if most of us came from JJs or that it used to be called FreeHuddle. It seems pretty inconsequential to me. If people want to check it out they'll check it out. Let this site have a chance to stand on it's own.

I agree, I don't understand why some people constantly want to bring up the other site.

What about getting some cheap T-Shirts made with the Ohio Chatter logo on it or something? Something like what Mark Titus did with the "Club Tril" shirts. Have proceeds go towards the same research as the golf outing is benefiting. Maybe start out selling to just members here or whatever, have people wear them to football games, etc and start getting the word out that way.

Agree.

This is not a high school site due to the language used on the forums.

I prefer this site for layout, but get more quality high school football info elsewhere due to trolls here.

I think it needs to be promoted as General Sports Message Board, including HS of course but just focus on "Sports" in general and get away from the High School moniker.

A new large school high school football conference was formed recently, nothing on the football site about it.

But if I want to find out about beheadings, I click here.

I blame vball10set for that. Although he is more of a Toledo Public follower I think.

LOL... I keep having the same visual with these business cards. Every Ohio Chatter member at a local high school game, forming a line... standing and flicking OC business cards Las Vegas Strip style!

How long does it take to get proper form on that flick? Two... maybe three games? Could we have a clinic so that all shall be able to do it the same? LOL

I will do all I can to help promote the site... Best wishes to all.

i agree, if we promote it as a high school sports site, we are going to get the "why do you allow cussing" thread every week or so again

Plus, it was never really meant to be a site that had its priority focused on sports (though obviously there is always some interest).

I agree as well.

Is there a way to create a "wall" between the high school forums and the others? Is it possible to filter the cursing in just the high school forum? Not that I have seen any major cursing going on in them.

Basically the non high school forums can have some "R" rated language in them and PG-13 pics. Maybe when someone joins and they want to view the non high school forums, they have to make a one time acknowledgment that they are 17 or older to view the content, just like at the movies. I know most kids will just click on it anyways but at least there is an acknowledgment of the possible content and no surprises.

Give a statement to some effect on the site's policy on the non high school forums, noting the liberal rules on the content of member's posts. Maybe just acknowledging that offensive language is discouraged but not prohibited.

Even though this site may not advertise itself as primarily a high school sports site, because we have high school forums and would promote the site at a high school function, could create the possibility of some sort of liability. Clicking and acknowledging would virtually eliminate that liability.

Just an idea.

It may not be possible with the software the chatter runs on. Justin would have the answer to that.

The only reason that I am so stuck on relating this site to JJ's and FreeHuddle is for all of the people that were on those sites that don't realize that this site is here. People know JJ's...but most of the people don't like that site due to the same reasons that this site was created...for some it would be a better alternative. And there are still tons of people I talked to on this site when it was FreeHuddle that are not here because they haven't realized the change. Those are the only reasons.

Sonofanump - what site do you go to now for in depth HS football info? Please don't tell me it is JJ's or Yappi....but I am curious.

But this site technically isn't an "alternative" to JJ, it is an alternative to the ST/I forum on JJ

I'm serious. Have people contribute to a banner and then ship it around the state to a chatterer and have them take it to the JJ Game of the Week. Not only would it attract me customers, but it would really piss them off.

Why not change/improve? Shouldn't the goal always be to get better?? Why remain stagnant when you have a chance to improve upon something? The threads are becoming redundant, especially in the pro/college sports forums. New blood = a wider variety of topics, imo.

If this site was soley created to replace the Sports Trivia forum over there, then why are there so many other topics....most of which revolve around HS sports. I am pretty sure Justin had more in mind for this site than just a BSing forum.
