I think this is a good hire. I think Byron is a underrated coach. He got raw deals in both New Jersey and New Orleans. Even without Lebron, I can possibly see the Cavs make the playoffs because I believe he gets the most out of his players.

Done deal according to Windy.

PDCavsinsider: According to a source, Byron Scott has agreed in principle to a three-year contract to coach #Cavs. WIll be announced later.

I like the hire, but if Lebron leaves(which seems more and more likely by the day sadly) this team will be lucky to win 30 games.

I don't see Lebron leaving being more and more likely each day. I think he has played it right so he can get another guy in here via S/T. Lebron won't leave with the bust of a playoffs he had.

Agreed, 100% ... I think the Nets screwed him, I was really pissed when he was let go. He took a horrible franchise to 2 NBA Finals, and got the boot cause of a tough stretch. What BS. Good hire Cleveland!

I have to believe that Byron Scott wouldn't come to Cleveland unless there was a better than even chance of James staying in Cleveland. I hope I'm right and what a great coup this would be for the Cavs, but if James doesn't come, I think Byron Scott will be a very rich man but not a very successful NBA Coach. I have nothing against Scott and agree that he got a raw deal in NJ, but there is only so much you can do if you start by taking the main man out of a line-up that all of a sudden lacks depth and a go to guy.

Good hire and a proven winning coach. Why would Lebron want to go to Chicago with a brand new coach?

Really good hire by the Cavs. I thought he should have been their first option in the first place, but they got their guy. Regardless of what happens in free agency, Scott is a good coach and will be a nice change in Cleveland.

I won't believe this until I see him at the podium haha. There have been too many times already that the Cavs have supposedly hired somebody. This is 2nd time Scott got the job, Shaw had the job, and before that Izzo was supposedly taking the job

He is three games under .500 as a head coach.

With his hire I am now leaning in the direction that king no title will stay in losersville.

What a horrible post, even for you NCF. The guy took over a horrible Nets team (26-56 his first season), and took them to the NBA Finals the next two seasons. He then took over a horrible New Orleans squad (18-64 his first season) and turned them into a winner within 4 seasons. Are you really this dense, or is this another troll attempt? I never diss you because I don't care about you, but I get why people think you are a turd.

He is three games under .500 lifetime that is a fact.

I called cleveland losersville before this post has nothing to do with the new coach.

I think James will stay because of the hire.

Not because of the record the coach has.

If Mr. Scott can improve upon the Cavaliers the same level he improved his former teams he may be the greatest Cleveland hire ever. :)

I think the Cavs could hire Forrest fricken' Gump and LeBron would still stay. Have always felt he was more about loyalty than people give him credit for. I might be wrong, and wouldn't be surprised if true, I would certainly lose a lot of respect for the guy if so, because thus far he hasn't given any indication to the contrary. Media circus aside.

I would bet a lot of money against that. The Cavs without LeBron is still a 6-8 seed in the East.

When your role changes so does your play. These guys aren't completely incapable if LBJ leaves. Obviously we're better if he stays but to think other won't step up some is short-sighted. When you recall when LeBron was on the bench at times you can be confused, when it was just a breather, the rest of the team played well. When he was in street clothes, they seemed to suck. That to me seems to fall on Mike Brown, but there were time when they excelled and other times they did not imo.

I read the title too fast. I thought it said "Bon Scott to be named head coach of the Cavs." Now THAT would be interesting.

He'd be more animated than Mr Potato Head, the former coach.
