Can you help me better understand where I might be wrong?

I don't watch a lot of TV but this might be a show I would watch come this fall if it's still on or there are re-runs.

I don't come on here talking about nuclear science, cause I know nothing about it. If you've never watched the show, and don't really know what it's about, why throw out an uneducated opinion about it?

I don't think anyone's jumping down anyone's throat--Con gave his/her opinion,and I gave mine--just some harmless bantering between OC'rs ;)

It's about 100X more like a documentary then a soap opera. The definition of a soap opera is A soap opera, sometimes called "soap" for short, is an ongoing, episodic work of dramatic fiction presented in serial format on television or radio. A better example of a male version is WWE or 24.

sportschamp....That's not the same definition I read but it would certainly make a difference. Your reference to documentary seems applicable.

It's definitely more like a documentary. I can see how it might seem more dramatic lately though. There has been some serious stuff happening. Jake Anderson's sister dying, and dad going missing. And of course Phil and his sons. A lot of "drama", but it's all real, not fictional.

How much different is it going to be next season without Phil and if Johnathon decides to walk away. Those guys have been there from the start and I just hope that wouldnt be the end of the show as those main guys start to leave the show.

I can't see them ending the show. It's too popular. Aren't there a lot of boats they filmed and then just narrowed it down to the popular ones? I think the Kodiak is new this season. If it's not I just don't remember it. I'm sure they will introduce some new captains if they feel they need to.

Im just saying those guys are so popular that maybe viewers may turn it off without those guys there anymore but no doubt the show pulls in huge numbers and has major sponsors.

There are other boats that dont even get mentioned or filmed but itd take a while to build up anyone else to the popularity of these guys

It might be Scotty's "birthright", but in no way is he ready to captain a boat.

Ok, I have water in my eyes after seeing that scene with Phil and his son in the hospital...

Phil: "I should have been a better father, I'm sorry..."

My girl will watch it tomorrow, I may catch some of it but will try not too. As I stated earlier in the thread I don't watch really because I don't have the time to add more shows into my TV time, anyways after seeing some of the last episode where it all started to happen it reminded me too much of my dad. He actually looks like my dad did in the hospital, shaved head, the tubes, etc...I will ask her to start watching it after I head to work tomorrow, I don't want to see it as I will think of my dad too much. From what I have seen of the show though Phil is a great guy!

Man, just caught the last 15 minutes ... wow. Not even sure what to say, talk about intense reality television. I watch this show periodically, but have always enjoyed it, but this took it to a different level. Rarely see something so raw and real on TV.
