Have fun with this guy. I have been a baseball fan since 1983, and I have never seen a worse player when comparing his contributions to his lofty contract. This guy is an absolute turd, I would pick him dead last in a draft, hands down.

Chances are we will probably never see him in a Reds uniform.

There's been a few injuries over the last week; possible trades on the horizon; and besides, he is only signing a contract at Triple A Louisville, not with the Reds.

QUESTION:

Is Heisey considered organizational filler or an actual prospect the team would want to cultivate? If he's a prospect, he's being wasted as a bench warmer who occasionally pinch-hits and rarely starts. I could see the Reds thinking about using an end-of-his-career retread like Matthews in his role, while sending Heisey down to get regular playing time in that case. Of course, since Dinglebaker's a close friend of Matthews' dad, I could easily see him starting Matthews for 67 straight games at leadoff despite him batting .155 during that time.

Heisey IS a prospect, and a good one at that. HOWEVER, to Dusty, he is nothing more than a shoe cleaner (reverse/payback racism!!!)

Heisey is player for the future. He is one of their better prospects right now.

The Matthews move is kind of a head scratcher, but we'll have to wait and see

I doubt he even sees a Reds uniform unless he comes up to pinch hit or something. Even that would be a waste of a spot.

What, they couldn't track down Corey Patterson or Willy Tavares?

Just read on ESPN Insider that the reason the Reds have interest in Matthews is because "Dusty Baker and Matthews' father are good friends"

What a joke

I have seen a lot of "hated" Mets in my day, ranging from Vince Coleman to Aaron Heilman ... but Matthews was right up there. The guy was an automatic out, and he was basically run out of town by the fans, who are unforgiving of overpaid turds (and trust me, others are soon to follow, starting with Oliver Perez) ...

of course it's because of friendship....IF Patter...I mean Taver...I mean Mathews plays...Dusty will play him just like his other boys and then Dusty wil be gone finally.

DUSTY WILL NEVER GET IT>>>>EVER

This would be an absolute terrible signing by the Reds, especially with them still in the race when they should sit tight until the deadline next month

It wouldn't really be that terrible considering he would be playing for Louisville.

Yeah, but it becomes terrible when somebody on the team gets dinged up and Matthews finds his way to Cincy. He'll be taking ABs from Heisey and Stubbs

Don't disagree with it being a terrible signing but I do disagree that the Reds should/can afford to wait until the end of next month to make a trade
