BINGO!

The injuries don't make people think, "I wonder, if he had stayed healthy, if he would have been one of the best ever."
Instead, the injuries make people think, "I wonder, if he had stayed healthy, if he would have been THE best ever."

Stats don't lie. And the stats say that Griffey was one of the best players to ever step foot on the diamond.

Griffey is no where near GOAT status for me but you have to be an idiot if you don't think he is a first ballot HOFer. And then you throw Kenny Lofton's name out? C'mon man.

Nah. Elvis Presley was much more famous.

Guess my point was Farrah was probably saying "shit...why did I have to die the same day as this dude?" When a Michael Jackson dies, usually anyone else who dies the same day is going to be an afterthought.

There's no way Elvis was as big a global icon as MJ. Not even close.

No one will doubt The King's popularity. But he didn't have the global superstardom that MJ did. He didn't do as much for charity as MJ did. Elvis was huge in the US but Michael Jackson was huge all over the world. Now if Elvis had that popularity during the time period MJ did we have been as/more popular? I think it's arguable....but the fact remains that MJ had larger global popularity.

Oh I agree with that, it was certainly the wrong day to die and if she would've died a week earlier she would've dominated headlines. I'm not sure the Pope's death got as much coverage as Jackson's

I guess I was more comparing their influence relative to others during their eras, not so much direct comparison. Clearly, they live in completely different media cultures, so a direct comparison is unfair.
