The Mariners, while having a lot of young talent, just aren't good enough offensively... and have some high priced guys (Griffey Jr., Sweeny) sitting on their bench just rotting

Big win for the Mets last night -- a particularly-enjoyable 8-0 pasting of the Phillies. Lets make it 4 in a row tonight!

I just wanna know one thing...

Where the fuck did you guys pick up RA Dickey?

Last time I saw him he was pitching for Texas and his ERA was like 135.00 or something crazy like that

Great question! He has been farting around our Triple-A squad, and after Oliver Perez's 20th straight non-quality start, we gave him a shot. Guy has been unreal! The funny part is, Rod Barajas can't catch the guy, no lie at least 10-15 balls must have been dropped or went to the backstop last night, it was comical!

BAB,

Perez is god awful.

I was rooting for Manuel to put him in during the whole subway series everytime he was up in the bullpen. What a selfish bastard, I'll just pitch an inning or 2 out of the bullpen instead of going down and working on the stuff I need to to be an effective starter....

The tribe better close the gap, and close it quick if they want to have a shot. I just don't see them having enough pieces to challenge Minnesota or Detroit. Its a 2 team race in that league

you knew Boston was gonna get back into it... they simply have too many good players to lay on the deck for too long...

Exactly.

I think it sets up the AL East to have one hell of a finish.

It really could, provided all the teams get guys back and get everyone healthy...Boston is getting there, they got Cameron back and are close to getting Ellsbury... Granderson should be back for New York soon, but Nick Johnson will be a while.

Lincecum getting pounded on by the Nats right now... lots of hard hit balls for the 2nd start in a row for him

I know I'm stretching here....

But does anyone else think, just maybe, the Nats could make a run at the Phillies?

I don't know if they're good enough offensively to sustain it over the long haul...

They're bullpen is much improved, and is Stasburg comes up and dominates they could be in it at the All-Star break.

Yeah, I mean I'm not expecting anything crazy. But I think they could make a run at the 2 spot in that division.

I think they most definately could. They're much improved than they were last year, especially defensively, and Capps has been lights out when the game is on the line for the most part. Clippard has proven himself to be a solid set up guy so far, and the rest of their starters do just enough most nights to keep them in games.

Besides, they've got Livan Hernandez lol

Their SS, can't remember his name right now, is a stud also. Kurkjen(or whatever) was talking about him last night making plays that he has never seen SS's make to their left.

I'm not so sure I agree with that, but he is a damn good fielder.

His name is Desmond, and he just made another rediculous play going up the middle to save a run.

They're up 3-0 on San Francisco

Is it just me or is all news outlets ignoring the Reds right now? I turn on ESPN and there is never anything about the Reds being in first place and battling with the Cards.

Same with the Padres. Very little coverage. If it continues for both, you will hear about it. I wish I had MLB Network. One of the few downsides to AT&T U-Verse.

For both of those teams, that's probably the best thing that could be happening for them right now.

Also, the networks may be cautious right now, considering both teams have done this sort of thing recently within the past 5 years(come out like gang busters only to fade away)

Yeah that is pretty crazy and something I did not want since the Phils play the Marlins now and the Marlins just lost 2 out of 3 from Atlanta and arent looking to good. NL East could be even more interesting the way all 5 teams have been playing.

2) Jose Bautista is playing out of his mind right now. This is a guy who's max HR total for an entire season was 16, in 2006. This year he has 14 through 47 games. He'll cool off.
not saying your ignorant.......but there is an old addage in baseball that says "often, its not who you play, but WHEN".
