I prefer Shell or BP gasoline (think it burns better/cleaner). I always by Sunoco when I can (US owned, NO imported oil. I love that).
Sorry, But the trucks that drop gas at WallyWorld, Kroger, Meijer, Circle K, Fuel Mart, etc, load at the same Rack/Terminal as the trucks that drop at Sunoco, BP, Marathon, etc.

I have loaded my truck at a Marathon rack, and the guy in front of me is headed to a Sams, and the guy loading behind me is headed to a Kroger.
I can load at a Sunoco terminal with guys headed to a BP and with Marathon trucks loading right behind them headed to a Marathon station. Same with a BP terminal, a Husky terminal, Shell, Citgo, It all depends on who has the rack/terminal price that day. The gas at the Walmart is in no poorer quality than the Shell across the street. But you can do what ever makes you feel better! :D

I won't sit and pretend to be an oil expert but you can't tell me the consumer hasn't been shafted with prices. Whether is the oil companies, govts, etc...someone is sticking us.

I thought BP had at least a little bit of involvement in Venezuela.

Maybe not importaing and the like yet, but they do have staff there and are taking part in exploration and the like.

But, don't really know what all that entails. Do you?
I'm sure they do, but with Citgo it's like 90% of their oil coming from VZ and Chevron its like 50%.
Ah, gotcha.

I just hauled some "nitrogen enriched v-power premium" today from the Sunoco terminal in Toledo. :P It didn't go to a Shell or a Walmart (I dont haul to those), but it is in Findlay! "Nitro enriched" simply means it has ethynol in it.
Glad you pay the extra coin for it!

Actually it's usually the same price as Speedway. Today it's 2 cents more a gallon. It has more cleaning additives in it is why I use it.

Considering the oil company makes about $0.27 per gallon profit and the government taxes (state+feds) range from $0.26-$0.50 depending on what state you live in...I'll let you decide on where the blame for "sticking it to us" lies.

FYI, here in Ohio a total of $0.44 is taxes ($0.18 feds, $0.26 Ohio).

So, the government is making more per gallon of gas than the "big evil oil" companies are.

FYI, the government is also making more per pack of cigarettes than the tobacco companies are as well.

Fair enough, like I said someone is sticking it to us so yes the govt is more than these companies but bottom line is we are getting stuck. I don't have a problem with oil companies, we need them of course but their deals with govts and nations are shady to say the least. I for one understand its a fact of life though and if I want to go somewhere in my gas guzzling SUV I have to pay for it, so be it, just doesn't mean I have to like them, the govt, or anyone involved for that matter.

I am just against boycotting if it affects American workers period!

Several things bring issue with me here:

1st off. "Nitro enriched" means it's enriched with N2. Ethanol has no nitrogen in it (C2H5OH, FYI).

2nd Ethanol is added to gas to reduce emissions, not to enhance performance (though I'd think it would since it burns hotter than gas, but I digress). It's not to clean your engine or anything like that. It's just to reduce emissions.

3rd you pay more because N2 reacts with the carbon (aka Gunk) that builds on the pistons and cleans them. the detergents and additives required by EPA do not do this (though they do clean other parts of the engine).

not to fan the flames, but if the oil companies charge more than the costs to refine it (aka the 3-2-1 crack spread), it's price gouging and its a crime. I believe there was a case of this in KY not long ago, if you wanted to look it up. My point is, that if the oil companies tried to artificially raise the price to pad their pockets, its a crime. Think about that next time Samsung charges you $2200 for a TV that cost them $220 to manufacture.

Nah, you could move close to your job and walk or ride a bike to work.

You could heat your house with a wood burning stove.

yeah i remember hearing about that a long time ago. the gas is all the same once it is in the pipeline. but i prefer Marathon and Shell because i get like the 3% or 5% discount with their credit card.
