Reghi had Lebron's HS coach (Keith Dambrot?) on today and he (Dambrot) said that there had to be something going on in Lebron's head for him to just shut down without a fight. He didn't know what it was but it was obviously something.

Obviously something was going on. After he hit the back-to-back threes last night, they went to the bench for a timeout and LeBron was sitting by himself talking to himself like he was mentally ill or something. I don't know if he was on drugs or if someone paid him off or threatened him or what, but it looked very strange.

Yeah, most of the callers on WKNR on Wednesday were predictiong him to go off for 45-50 last night to give everyone the big "F-U" and he doesn't. He was on the floor but he really wasn't in the game.

The first thing that needs known to answer this question involves his health (ELBOWGATE!!!). He seemed passive a lot in the final games and had way to many of those "drive, get indecisive and turn the ball over" plays for a dude of his stature.

As an uneducated guess for what they're missing not knowing the answer to the above...

1. A good coach. I thought Brown was a big part of their losing. Athletic guys like Moon and Hickson were buried on the bench (as was a streaky, but hot when on, shooter in Gibson) while Mo, Parker, Jamison all were allowed to suck with regularity. If you have a DEEP team, then fucking use the role players in place of the starters who aren't getting it done. Well, MORE role players than the old center who'd been off for a month or more due to the Washington trade and was still rusty.

2. An upper-tier player with a "refuse-to-lose" mentality. For whatever reason, LeBron was too passive in the key games in the series. Judging from the game 5 debacle, Shaq might still have the mentality, but he's an aged, limited player who can't spark a team to victory by himself. Mo tends to suck in big games, as we've all found out over the past two years...he had a very good first half last night, but couldn't maintain things for the entire game. I don't know if Jamison's ever been on a truly quality team...I do know he seemed out of his league against Boston when it really counted. I honestly think that if they had a guy who fits the "gritty veteran who puts up good stats and can inspire a team to fight for 48+" role, they'd still be active. Like...Garnett's a fiery guy and he had his best six-game stretch of the year against Cleveland. If the Cavs had him, they'd have won. But they have no complementary player with his "skill+heart" package.

Here's the way I see it, the Cavs still don't have a legitimate second scoring option. I know Mo Williams, Shaq, and Jamison were suppose to provide the scoring when Lebron was out, but all of them flopped. Mo disappeared completely, Shaq resorted to crappy soft touch shots, and Jamison reverted to nothing more than a mere role player. I don't think Shaq should have been playing those minutes, Hickson and Varejao are our best front court because they are mobile.

Like most of you, I am frustrated, especially since I really thought they would win it all this year. But until Lebron leaves, this is still a really good team, but I guess my question would be, what are they missing? I think getting Bosh or Amare is a pipe dream, Wade will stay in Miami, Ray Allen with Boston, Joe Johnson won't come here, etc...I also don't see many teams willing to deal for the likes of Delonte, Mo, Hickson, or Jamison, especially not for a superstar. Z will retire, Shaq might keep playing, but probably not on the Cavs, and that of course leaves us a little thin on the front court.

Ok, I'm just rambling on now.

I still think they need a TRUE SG. Anthony Parker is not a starter. Great role player, but not a starter. Also, Mike Brown has to go.

As far as personnel, I honestly don't know. I thought that definitely had the players to win it all.

I would put a lot of blame on Mike Brown. It seems like he never was really sure on what 5 to have out there. One minute hes playing fast, the next hes slows it up to half court sets. No Hickson?? Why? If Phil Jackson was leading that team do you think they would have bowed out in the 2nd round? HELL NO.

A legit second star to play alongside Lebron. To win a championship in this league, you need at least two star players, if not more. Look at the teams left, the Suns have Nash, Amare, and Richardson is no slouch. Lakers have Kobe, Gasol, and if you want you could throw guys like Artest and Odom in there. Orlando has VC, Howard, and Nelson. And of course we know Boston's Big 4.

When I think of elite PG's, Mo Williams doesn't come to mind. Same when I think of elite PF's and elite C's. Jamison and Shaq don't come to mind. We need a legit star, a Wade, Stoudamire, Bosh. Someone along those lines. Also, we need a new coach. Someone who sets a rotation and sticks with it. More often than not, Mike Brown just looks lost out there, plugging guys in and out, giving them no real rhythm.

I forget who it was, but someone on ESPN made a good point. Mike Brown was known as being a defensive coach and the Cavaliers had really stepped up there D the past couple years. Then guys like Mo, Jamison, and Shaq are brought in. Those guys aren't exactly known for the defense. Average at best.

Built for the regular season means,playing well and dancing like a clown when teams only play half ass defense. Built for the playoffs means being able to play well when players are putting effort forward and playing hard nose gritty defense and not choking also proving that you are MVP and not giving half ass effort. If a deal can't be swung to bring in Bogut, then sign Bosh. Problem solved.

I think Mike Brown is to blame..... Yes the Cavs had/have lots of depth, but in the playoffs it's all about rotation and chemistry. You can't play 10-11 guys in every playoff game. Z, Andy, JJ, Boobie, Moon, Parker, Powe off the bench would get minutes but you build no flow playing that many guys in a game in the playoffs. You normally have to have a short bench in the post-season so everyone knows "okay I'm getting this many minutes and have to provide these kind of numbers" mentality. Boston's bench may not have been as deep, But guys like Sheed, Baby, Tony Allen know their role and know and those were the main three off the bench. The only time Marquis Daniels, Nate Robinson or Shelden Williams got in a game was the end of the quarter/half situations or blowouts. I don't know if anyone else agrees with this but that's just my outside opinion.

Bosh is going to want a max contract and the Cavs can't sign him to that. I think the most we can give a free agent is 8 million assuming both Z and Shaq retire, and we sign him before we sign Lebron. He got Shaq for Wallace and Pavolic, those players are GARBAGE. He got Jamison(a starting PF) for the 30th pick in the draft and a 30-day loan of Z.

The lack of coaching and a supporting cast is what really hurt Cleveland.

There was such a huge market for Jamison and Shaq huh? No one else even wanted Shaq. He got paid $20 million this year. They could have paid a free agent with some promise instead.

Jamison obviously didn't make a difference, so at this point, you would take that trade back if you had the option. I'd rather have the 30th pick, and get someone with some potential, than have Jamison who is going to get $28 million over the next two years.

How about not bringing in Shaq and signing someone like Channing Frye and paying him $2 million this year.

It's just common sense.
