I don't really know what happened with the Cavs but just from reading on here and other forums, it seems a lot of people are using this cliched tidbit:

The Cavs are built for the regular season, not the playoffs.

What the hell does that even mean? How do you "build a team for the playoffs"?

Here's the way I see it, the Cavs still don't have a legitimate second scoring option. I know Mo Williams, Shaq, and Jamison were suppose to provide the scoring when Lebron was out, but all of them flopped. Mo disappeared completely, Shaq resorted to crappy soft touch shots, and Jamison reverted to nothing more than a mere role player. I don't think Shaq should have been playing those minutes, Hickson and Varejao are our best front court because they are mobile.

Like most of you, I am frustrated, especially since I really thought they would win it all this year. But until Lebron leaves, this is still a really good team, but I guess my question would be, what are they missing? I think getting Bosh or Amare is a pipe dream, Wade will stay in Miami, Ray Allen with Boston, Joe Johnson won't come here, etc...I also don't see many teams willing to deal for the likes of Delonte, Mo, Hickson, or Jamison, especially not for a superstar. Z will retire, Shaq might keep playing, but probably not on the Cavs, and that of course leaves us a little thin on the front court.

Ok, I'm just rambling on now.

Thoughts?

Being most of the back tracking so-called Cav fans on here thought this team had a deep bench and this was the year they were going to bring the title home I doubt you will find any responses worth reading from them.

You can't predict the future, nor can you seriously look at this team and say they didn't have depth, or they weren't a heavy favorite to win the championship. Even unbiased people have said the Cavs should win it all, so leave the trolling out of it.

A real coach.

That's it.

Mike Brown tried to make Jamison a spot up 3 point shooter, he's not. He's best on the low block, not on the 3 point line.

We need a coach who knows how to put his players in position to succeed.

I mean sure, another legit player would really help as well.

Every team does this, its not unique to the Cavs. Dallas fans were saying the exact same thing, so were the Patriots a couple years ago. When you are a heavy favorite to win the championship, and you have what many experts think is the best team, you are going to have fans of that team have high expectations. Just remember, hindsight is 20/20.

Which Dallas team?

I am a Cowboys fan and I have not heard one fan say that about them.
I will guess you are talking about the Mavs?

I will take your word for it being the only person I know who roots for the Mavs is myself, after the Lakers of course.

Mike Brown needs to go. It may not be fair, but its clear that he has not lived up to expectations and has actually regressed a lot from last season despite getting better pieces.

I don't know if they were "built for the regular season" but they were a better regular season team. From what I observed, once the playoffs hit, it's a different ballgame. Guys like Mo Williams who were guarded "loosy goosy" in the regular season are locked down in the playoffs (plus he's NOT a clutch player).

You take away the regular season 2nd & 3rd options and that just leaves Lebron. If Lebron sucks shit and barks at the moon (and quits on his team like he did in game 5), you're screwed.

Obviously hindsight but I would have liked to have seen what we would have done against them using a more athletic lineup and running an up tempo kind of game. It may have eventually worn the Celtics older players out. But, of course, Mike Brown plays right into the Celtics half court type of game.

And let's be honest, at this point, LeBron isn't MEAN enough to win a title.

It took MJ 7 years to develop that killer attitude.

It took Kobe quite some time as well.

You have to fail a few times (or in LeBrons' case, 7) before you truly realize what it takes.

Their weaknesses are easier to exploit in the playoffs. In the regular season in the NBA, you often play 4 different teams in a week, so it is hard to prepare for individual teams. The Cavs do very well playing a team 3 or 4 times in a season spread out over months. It is a different story when teams can focus just on them.

Speaking of Shaq, he may have a few rings but all of the teams that he's moved on from (except maybe the Suns this year), have one thing in common...he left them ALL in disarray/collapse. Orlando sucked, the Lakers sucked (until they got Gasol) and Miami sucked. Hopefully this doesn't happen to the Cavs.

And how is this any different than any other pussy laden Cavs team? They have ALWAYS been soft....way back to when the gaping vagina that was Brad Daugherty let Mark Price get butt raped right in front of him by, I believe, Rick Mahorn and did nothing.

I actually gained some respect for Mo Williams in last night's game though. He saw LeBron wasn't going to help, so he scored 20 in the first half trying to do it himself. He disappeared in the second half, but the whole team did as usual.

I gained some more respect for Mo as well, because until the last minute, he never gave up. He even had a nice rip on Glenn Davis after he rebounded the ball.
