Mike Piazza - Met or Dodger?

Mike Piazza made some headlines this weekend, when he told reporters that he hopes to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Met if that day ever comes, citing the 2000 World Series, the 1st game after 9-11 and others in NY as his career highlights.

I am obviously biased, so I ask you: when you think of Mike Piazza, do you think of him as a Met or a Dodger?

I think of him as a Met and specifically the bat throwing incident with Roger Clemens.

He definitely had his best hitting (particularly batting average) years in LA, but games-wise he played nearly a third more games with the Mets, and certainly more post-season games. I think many people would be surprised how few games he played in LA.

Good post, I was about to say something similar. Here is the breakout:

LA (6+ seasons): 2707 AB, .331 BA (wow), 177 HR, 563 RBI
NYM (7+ seasons): 3448 AB, .298 BA, 240 HR, 579 RBI

I think of him as a Dodger, but think he should go to the Hall as a Met.

I think of him as a Met, but I don't think of him as a Hall of Famer. I know he will be and the numbers may support it, but the guy was a lousy catcher.

LOL... the 9 games worth...

I honestly think of him as a Met. He broke the all time homerun record for catchers as Met and played in a WS, on top of the other things that have already been mentioned. I simply think he accomplished more things as a Met.

Dodger. he played more as a Met, but his best years were with LA. Those are the years that made him a star and made this discussion happen.

He wasn't a lousy catcher: the NY Media was quick to point out he was poor at throwing out runners, but he was known to be a great game caller.
