Anyone else find the hypocrisy in the fact that they had some sort of Mexican traditional dance during lunch, but sent these boys home for wearing the colors of the country they live in?

And people wonder why those in Arizona are pissed at illegals and approve of the new law. Stuff like this and other crap don't help at all. If you want to live in this country, try assimilating a little to the culture.

Like I said, you certainly should be allowed to wear the flag anytime you want. But, these kids were using it as a symbol of exclusion. They used it to send the message: we don't give a fuck about your holiday, this is america and we don't celebrate no bean holidays or heritage here in America.

If that wasn't their intent, then why would there be the fear of violence??? Obviously the hispanics were taking offence to it and IMO it was their intention to offend the hispanics.....

How is celebrating your heritage exclusive of assimilating to "the culture"??

IMO America doesn't really have a "culture". It's a mix of the cultures of our immigrant ancestors who came to America. What the fuck is American culture besides a blend of Italian, Celtic, German, Spanish, etc.?????

Having a Hispanic principle kick out students for wearing an American flag isn't what I would call being part of this country. I've got no problem with them celebrating Cinco de Mayo, but when they start saying that just having an American flag present in an American school will cause "tension" that doesn't really scream assimilated to me.

What about the kid that is half-Mexican? He identified himself as American and that's the way it should be.

It shouldn't be everyone trying to have a hyphenated name to describe what they are. People should genuinely identify as American because that's what American is.. a collection of everyone. If people continually try to remain separate then guess what? There are going to be divisions in this country.

You can't have it both ways.

Like I asked, why would these patriots pick this day to wear the shirts. The one dude was wearing fucking swim trunks to school. I'm willing to bet that he never wore his swim trunks to school prior to this.

So, give me your most educated guess as to why they chose this day to show how they are just soooooo patriotic......

They wanted attention they got it, they wanted to get the hispanic students pissed off and they succeeded.....What's the problem????

So, be a narrow minded dick if you want. But if you don't accept the fact that there IS NO AMERICAN CULTURE outside the one that is a blend of ethnicities then you are lying to yourself.

Definatley, but when you come to school with the obvious intent to piss off a bunch of Hispanics, on a Hispanic holiday, in a school with a Hispanic principle then I guess the principle has the right to make a judgement call on how best to diffuse the potentially viloent situation. Guess who the Hispanic principal sided with on a Hispanic holiday in a school where a bunch of Hispanic students were celebrating A HOLIDAY THAT MANY AMERICANS HAVE ADOPTED if only for an excuse to drink.

You really are out of it. Tell me, what do you think would happen if a WHITE principle kicked 5 Hispanic students out of school on the 4th of July for wearing a Mexican flag? That idiot would be getting fired and there would be a shit storm of trouble. Reverse it and the kids were trying to start trouble and nothing happens.

Eh, You and I both know that these boys aren't that lovesick over America that they just have to wear the red white and blue to school every chance they get.

They did it w/ a borderline racist message in mind and though i believe that racism is your right, I know these dudes are just four attention whores who exploited the flag to get their 15 minutes and a bunch of mindless fucks are giving it to them plus way too much sympathy.

Their level of "patriotism" is irrelevant. Either you support their rights or you don't.

Like, don't get me wrong. 99.99% of the time you're a douchebag anyway for wearing flag clothing and these kids were probably doing it for the lolz/to piss people off but the fact of the matter is that they have that right.

Unless of course the school's dress code included something along the lines of "clothing cannot be distracting" or "at teacher's discretion" like my high school did. Then the school can do what they want. It's still stupid but not illegal or anything.

TL;DR: This is dumb.
