I have a chunk, just because. I don't DCA it though, only for Bitcoin. I'm somewhat done with gambling on crypto.

Someone that I think very highly of and someone that’s very educated and intelligent….but have never heard him give financial advice. He’s usually spot on, but also I’ve never heard him in this area
Did he give specific reasons why you should buy or just a general recommendation to buy?
Since it's someone you trust, I would just make sure you fully understand their reasoning for why it's a good idea to buy it. You need to be willing to fully lose every penny you put into it if you do decide to buy.

Here’s part of his reply
Man you should really look into a company ripple and their crypto tech xrp. The entire financial system is going digital and a lot of that will be done this and the next 5 years. Bitcoin was the first trial run and it’s 120k per share right now. Xrp I think in the next 5 years will be 5-10k per share. Don’t just listen to me but I’d research it. I think it is a life changing opportunity. It’s getting close to being a lot higher priced. It’s like 3 bucks a share right now.
Lots of signals to me in that reply that he doesn't really know why he's recommending it. "Per share" being the biggest. He most likely hasn't put in the effort to understand the underlying technology and is just gambling on some headlines he's read recently. Not knocking him for it or anything, I just wouldn't put too much stock in his opinion of it right now.
