Last night's Republican debate marks the beginning of the drive to the nomination with Iowa just 2 1/2 weeks away.

Last night's debate was by far, the best of all of them.
It was spirited and aggressive... And did less to winnow the field than Fox business did itself by allowing only seven candidates on the main stage. Sans Fiorina and Paul, the contending candidates sparred with each other and attacked Obama and Hillary mercilessly.... And pretty much ignored Sanders.
The top 3 candidates ( Trump Cruz and Rubio) all scored points against each other and took hits themselves... Ben Carson stayed out if the fray, concentrating fire on the current administration and the direction of the country under their leadership.... And surprisingly, all three governors, including Kasich , had strong showings. Christie was surprisingly strong, which will boost his poll numbers, and for once, Bush looked deserving of his monetary backers. Kasich, for his part, cast himself as the candidate for experienced, thoughtful, reasonableness.
One thing the candidates made clear, was that while they were nitpicking each other, everyone of them would be better than Hillary Clinton and the democratic/ progressive / socialist party. In that there was unaniminity.

Of the top three:
1. Trump makes insults and broad promises without any substance whatsoever. He has FY money, but beyond that shows not a bit of fitness for office.
2. Rubio is a respectable candidate and I think the best the Republicans have to offer. I consider him a strong possibility of being the nominee and eventual president
3. Cruz embodies what is divisive about the religious right wing. His comment about New York values was a very poor choice for someone running for president.

Unfortunately for my opinion, Bernie Sanders won't win the democratic nomination and we'll be left with Hillary. Like her or not, I'd say she's a formidable candidate to any of these. I think she'd crush Trump or Cruz and be more fit for office than either of them.

lol, she cant get out of her own way quick enough. THe FBI will put an end to her

You are delusional if you think the FBI is going to stop Clinton from becoming President.

As far as the Republican candidates, I will likely not vote for any of them. They are garbage and the fact that Trump is anywhere near the top 10 much less the top 3 shows how broken the party is.

Voting for Rubio. He's the only republican candidate I'd have confidence voting in.

Trump is a clown. Cruz too far to the right and a compulsive liar.

The other candidates aren't really candidates.

It's really only trump and Cruz at this point. Don't like trump at all, but his numbers are absurd.

Also I don't think his NY comments were dumb. It is an opinion I'm sure most of the base has, and not winning Ny anyway. Obama insulted many more people with his cling to guns comment and still won.

i dont think i am delusional, the FBI is putting 100 plus people on this case and the head of the FBI knows that he has a name to make for himself. The evidence on the email case is a slam dunk if they want it.

Even if it gets to that point, lynch will turn a blind eye.

Also, my vote doesn't count living in DC, but I would vote for Rubio at this place. I think he would take Hillary pretty easily, especially in a debate. Not a fan of trump and cruz, but say what you want about Trump I think he could be a serious threat to Hillary.

They all could be serious threats to Hillary if the dems want to continue to make guns an election topic.

Personally, I just don't understand the support for Trump. Yeah he says things that we all want to say, but at the end of the day, do we really want him as POTUS?

I understand somewhat, the antiestablishment feeling among a lot of Republicans who feel let down by their representatives in Congress.... But as Rubio and Ben Carson alluded to last night, Republicans HAVE to win this election. If another Progressive/ socialist gets in there for another term, the United States as we have known it, will cease to exist.
And what is even more scary, is that there is a huge part of the population actually wants that. Election of the Manchurian candidate, and 8 years of his "leadership" has truly transformed America. It's almost like the 50's sci-fi thriller 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'... We've woken up to find half the country inhabited by aliens who don't share traditional American values, not the least of which is respect for the Constitution and its writers.

Pubs have to win Ohio and FLorida. Do you go with Kasich? He is one smart political man.

Kasich is an intriguing vp for Ohio alone. Can't have Jeb so that's out. I'd rather have Cruz/ Rubio than trump/ Cruz

Rubio/Kasich would be tough to beat. Trump would be a disaster. I think there is a >50% chance he would make a knee-jerk reaction that would vault us into WWIII.

Cruz shouldn't be let anywhere near the White House. Him and Rand Paul, luckily Paul has taken his ball and went home for now.

I think Kasich will be the VP candidate--it's crucial to carry Ohio, especially this election.

I like Kasich for his reasonable levelheadedness and capabilities. He'd make a good VP.... But I agree with Iclfan in that I don't know if he sells with the rest of the country. I think Haley is bring floated for VP for a reason.... A Rubio/ Haley ticket neutralizes any suggestion that the GOP is only a party of Old white men, making the Dems have to run on issues alone.

It has nothing to do with Trump sending us into war. It has everything to do with Trump saying something moronically offensive that incites another global power to act.

Which is where the dems win with everyone but white men and married older white women. I know GOP voters can't believe that but it is true.


Not sure if Rubio and she can move the needle to get the extra percentage of white voters the GOP needs to win??

I think some mix of Rubio/Kasich will do it because I think that pair gets out the white men in Ohio at least if not the hardcore conservatives who call them a RINOs in South Carolina, etc. but they can afford to have a couple of thise folks in heavily red states sit out.

Would Kasich be Rubio's VP? I didn't think so at first but I think he would...sort of like Obama/Biden.
