As he was being restrained and still coming toward ref ...after headgear was winged..the ref did a warning call and then made ejection call and then Alexander left mat and apparently hit or threw something that whole crowd heard. Little while later Alexander is looking at bracket and telling everyone he is still in...after the appeal he was escorted out if the school...good initial call but not handled right.

I will try again... Ref tapped his head indicating ejection as Alexander was throwing a fit, then I have NO idea what transpired to make Alexander and his coaches think he was still in...something must have.

Actually, it sounds like he was ejected, couldn't face reality, tried to come back out on the mat for what would have been his next match, was appropriately protested by the opposing coaches and was told it's over...

I mean...the ref indicated he was ejected, right? What more does he have to do? the call was made, signal was given, it's done... It's not like he has to hand the kid a notarized letter. At that point, he's ejected. Over. Done. Bye.

It is my understanding that he was allowed to wrestle in the go to match, Jerome coach knowing his kid was not going to win challenged the ruling by the refs to allow him to still participate, because let's think about
this..... You are not going to get all the way to being on the mat ready to wrestle unless somebody allowed you to. It was cheap of the Jerome Coach to do what he did, it's a character issue he needs to deal with because he has always been a hothead and should have exercised better judgement on how he went about influencing a undeserved win for his wrestler. It should have been handled better from the get go, not allowed to carry on all the way up to the kids on the mat ready to wrestle. Anthony is a good kid, not a thug, over the years of watching wrestling I have seen crap behavior from kids and parents of all walks of life. As I told Anthony personally " do not allow this to define your life" it's what some people want to see. Who I feel sorry for is the Jerome coach who took a opportunity away from a kid who deserved the chance to compete..... You don't take chances from kids to compete.

I was looking forward to watching Alexander wrestle this weekend, but to blame anyone other than Anthony himself for not getting to is foolish.

I can't fathom this line of logic -- he was allowed to continue until the Jerome Coach went all Perry Mason on the officials, whipped out some super-crazy debate skills and TALKED the ref into a DQ???

I don't buy it. This simply does not happen.

The only logical reality is Alexander was already ejected and the Jerome coach simply pointed this out to a new ref who was unaware of this pre-existing FACT.

None of us probably knows all the details here, but I do know this: No coach at this sectional or any other said any magic words to get a kid ejected if that kid was not already ejected!!!

Don't blame the Jerome coach.....Alexander forfeited his right to compete due to his actions....and has only himself to blame

The question should be ...Why did he, his coaches, or anyone for that matter think he was able to wrestle in a go to match following an ejection call that everyone watching the match saw? That is the way it was not handled properly. Dublin coach was not the only coach on the floor questioning it either. The Dublin kid did not get an "undeserved" win. He very much deserved that win, it is not his fault that Alexander was ejected. Just my thoughts...I do not know anyone involved in this personally, only what I saw.

I don't have an issue with him being ejected because of hisactions the issue I have is how it all went down. Quick example: 7 years ago we had a kid thatlost her 3rd place match granted he had already qualified for districts. He was upset and made a comment after gettingpinned at that point Steve gave the signal and ejected him on the spot. He toldour coaching staff that he was ejected and he hand carried the match card tothe head table and told them that our kid was ejected from the tournament caseclose.

That’s what should of happen yesterday the official shouldhave told the coaching staff and notified the head table that Alexander wasejected from the tournament that would have settled everything. About an hour later he showed up to the mat towrestle his go to match that’s when the other coach started talking to the officialand the official took the match card to the head table. I had a kid wrestling next on that mat so I seenall of this happen. About 30 minuteslater Alexander's coaches were escorting him out of the school I was on mat 2and they delayed my kids match until after he was escorted out of the building. Because it wasn't handled properly Alexanderwas under the impression that the actions of the other coach is what got himejected from the tournament. I know thisbecause comments were made between Alexander and the other coach when he wasleaving the building.

After talking with Alexander's coach outside before theyleft it had me wondering what would I have done if I was in the other coachesplace?

As a coach and mentor to these kids the main question is howdo you get such a talented kid refocused and heading back in the rightdirection?

I'm sorry you are way off base, he was ejected at the time of the incident, Anthony came walking back 15 minutes later acting like nothing happened. You can not blame the Jerome coach for the situation that occured afterwards, this was totally on Alexander, we have rules and regulations for a reason in wrestling and in society so things like this happens there are consequences and now he has to suffer them. To blame the Jerome coach is sour grapes

It comes down to choices and consequences.

There is quote a from 80Baby that pretty much sums up how it was bought to me, choices made and consequences of the choice were botched and not handled correctly, because if they were he would have never made it back on the mat to wrestle. I don't have a problem with the ejection if it had been handled correctly

When it's all said and done...You wouldn't say, the only issue that mattered is the poor choice made?

Kids make poor choices all the time, I know for a fact we can all agree that things were handled poorly on both sides.

Should the kid who misbehaved get a pass because of a mistake in handling the ejection?That seems unfair to the wrestler who was expecting a "bye" only to find out that ejected isn't really ejected today...and now has to step on the mat and wrestle; never mind that he is totally not warmed up or prepared? Why correct the mistake of "improper handling" at the expense of the kid who did nothing wrong? I don't think anyone there had any thought that he was still "in" after the signal.

I agree he should have been escorted out immediately. But when that didn't happen, sorry no free pass. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I hope he will learn to control his anger and use his strengths in positive ways.

Let's be completely honest here. If a Dublin Jerome kid had acted that way there is not a chance in anywhere that he would be allowed to continue. The schools would be in a uproar had he come back to wrestle for 3rd place. There is a lot of "rumoring" and conjecturing going on about this incident from people that were not there or not in the "know". The story that is being spun is not all accurate. I do know first hand that this wasn't a ploy to get the Jerome wrestler out of wrestling Alexander nor was it done right before the match began. In all honesty, the Alexander kid is lucky he didn't go out in cuffs. He is 18 and threatened a referee and coach. Had a police officer been there that might have been his fate.

First and foremost if a Dublin Jerome kid had done the same thing he be going home to a big screen TV with a nice meal and to a mom and dad will who pay for his college. First time I picked up Anthony to take him to practice he was talking about how somebody got shot at the grocery store right by his house. so maybe there should be an uproar if a kid who has everything in the world and threatens a ref and get to stay in the tournament but but maybe there should be a bit of an uproar for when a kid who has nothing gets kicked out of a tournament for the same thing! every circumstance is different and wrestling is supposed to foremost be about the kids so a snot nosed kid should get kicked out of the tournament if he did what Anthony did but maybe we should find a better ways to punish a kid who grows up in a war zone,because wrestling may have been is only way out of that !
BTW, Anthony's not lucky he didn't get arrested I deal with cops all the time I've never seen them once arrest anybody for something that stupid.
I've taken Anthony to camps and clinic's, to my home.he's a good kid,he made a mistake you should be punished for it but I don't think he should be punished like that, this should have been an other way to take care of this
