i doubted him all season and his final ranking proved me right. he just cant throw a lick. it took him 13 games to accomplish what christian ponder did in nine games. and i dont see ponders name thrown around in any heisman debate. and as far the rose bowl , one game doesnt make a career. if that was the case Tim Biakabutuka would have won the heisman on his performance against the buckeyes. and the knee injury is merely a excuse for his sub par performance. you guys make me laugh , deep down you know pryor hasnt lived up to the hype when he came out of high school. i mean honestly there was only 61 qb's in college football ranked higher than pryor last season. and you want to throw him in the heisman watch?
Its not just his passing numbers. Also, Ponder may have only played 9 games and threw 330 passes to Pryor's 295 attempts in 13 games. So in theory Ponder should have more yards passing in lesser games when he throws it more per game. Pryor 25 total TD's to Ponders 16, Ponder would have needed to average 2.25 TD's per game in his final 4 outing to tie Pryor. Ponder averaged 1.8 TD's per game so he would have fell short on averages. So I can really see how Pryor needed more games lol.
Pryor had Ponder beat by over 600 yards rushing and 5 TD's, all while having a bum knee which wasn't used as an excuse. Pryor knew he was injured and went out to put up over 300+ yards of total offense against Oregon.
Pryor as a starter is 19-3 as a starter, 2 Big Ten Titles, 1 BCS bowl victory, 1 Rose Bowl MVP. He will be leading the Buckeyes into 2010 ranked #1-2 and will be 100% healthy.
I'd say he is doing alright so far considering he had no prior QB coaching in HS before coming to OSU. He has a legit chance to add a National Title, two Big Ten titles, and multiple personal awards before his final game as a Buckeye.
your stats are interesting but one sided and they dont tell the story , sure ponder throws the ball the more. but who in there right mind would want pryor throwing as many passes as ponder. thats is evident in the ints . ponder threw the ball more but had less ints. another thing pryor did gain way more yds running the ball , probably because he couldnt recognize coverages and had to pull it down and go. and as far as winning the big ten thats a notch upfrom winning the mac. a secondary conference that touts one national champion in the last 30 years. and really what are his chances of winning a national championship? if he has to play against a sec champion , well we know what happens then.
Haha your post is so full of holes Im amazed it's still standing...First and foremost, Michigan won the NC in 1997, and OSU won it in 2002, but nice try idiot. Let me guess, SEC education at its finest?
And secondly, no WE DON'T KNOW what happens when Pryor plays an SEC champion, seeing how he's never played an SEC champion in bowl game. Nice homer answer, but you have no facts to back it up, as again, there are no games to use as facts.
And it's nice that you accuse other people of telling "one side of the story" in the Pryor vs. Ponder debate, but you skim over the MOST obvious fact that contributed to Florida state throwing so much last year is the fact that they HAD NO RUNNING GAME. You asked "who the hell would want Pryor throwing as much as Ponder?" well I ask you, who the hell would want FSU's line to have to "block" (and I use that term loosely) as many times a game as OSU's line blocked for Saine/Herron/Hall? In a previous post you cited Pryor's low numbers in the last 4 regular season games of the year...did you forget that OSU averaged almost 225 yards per game on the ground in those same 4 games? Not to mention that they won 3 out of the 4 comfortably? Why WOULD they pass when they don't have to dumbass? Of course FSU and Ponder throw it more than OSU and Pryor did last year, because FSU had ZERO BALANCE. Look no further for proof of that than their record. One dimensional teams DONT have successful seasons in CFB. If they did, Houston and Hawaii would be NC contenders every year. Which also makes your claim of Pryor not "being able to hit water if he fell out of a boat" completely false. If OSU can't pass, there's nothing for defenses to focus on but stopping their run game. Obviously at 225 per game (and oh yeah, right at 200 in the rose bowl) over their last 4-5 games, that was not the case. You don't win 11 games, a major conference championship, and the Rose bowl with a one-dimensional offense.
And YOU are the kind of people who make me laugh, because you're finally starting to see, like all of us are, Pryor growing into the kind of playmaker he was touted to be coming in, and you're last desperate attempt to cling to the delusion that you have that he'll "never be any good". It's comical at best, but then again denial always is. No one is the frontrunner over Ingram, but to discredit the QB of team that's won 5 big 10 titles in row, a Rose bowl, and who finished in the top 5 last year, with basically ALL of his offensive weapons back this year as not even close to being a contender is completely asinine.
But I'm sure you've got another genius response that makes even less sense than the last one.
