School resource officer?

The dad was arrested tonight and facing a bunch of charges including cruelty to children. He apparently gifted the assault rifle to the kid for Christmas last year. 

I think we’ll find out the dad absolutely failed this kid.

Don’t forget what party doesn’t want SROs. 

Several of the last school shootings had SRO’s and they did nothing.

Scary stuff honestly.

When I see these potential types they often get cooler kids picking on them….I always let those kids know they need to stop it in general but really should not tease that kid. It’s a thing.

Fiancee's nieces son is going into junior high and is extremely short for his age. He has been getting bullied at school, his mom has complained about it, and the school has done nothing. Kid comes home crying all the time. See a lot of this around here on a regular basis. If it's a racial situation, the school won't touch it for fear of "rocking the boat."

Fiancee's nieces son is going into junior high and is extremely short for his age. He has been getting bullied at school, his mom has complained about it, and the school has done nothing. Kid comes home crying all the time. See a lot of this around here on a regular basis. If it's a racial situation, the school won't touch it for fear of "rocking the boat."

Bullying is very tough for schools to regulate and almost impossible to stop. Many times the teacher stepping in just makes it worse. Often no good answers. Not sure what you mean about the racial situation that schools won’t touch maybe you could expand on that

Where I live, there have been several instances of a black kid bullying a white kid. The bully moved to another local school district and is still bullying. Schools won't do anything to the kid because they don't want to have the finger pointed at them as racists. Bullying isn't ok in any circumstance.

Saw that he gifted the gun to him AFTER the kid had already  been investigated for threatening to shoot up the school.

If that is true that dad will and should face a ton of jail time. What an absolute asshole.

1. Required 30 min mental health sessions starting in 5th grade. Every school has at least 1 professional talking to these kids weekly. If they miss 30 min of a class, they miss 30 min of a class. Bigger schools obviously need to have more than 1. Mental health and feeling worthy in life, etc are the main issues with troubled individuals. Starting them talking with professionals -- without the stigma of outside help, because the entire nation does it -- early on in life would hopefully help. Kids will still pick on someone and you will get made fun of, but venting every week would go a long way to coping with issues. It would also be a direct line to a professional seeing signs early and taking precautions. 

Distant 2. Assault Rifle and Semi Automatic weapons ban - it wont happen overnight, but eventually over time you will severely limit the amount that are in the areas where the mass shootings seem to happen.

There's already a shortage of mental health workers in this country.  Multiple school psychs to talk to kids "weekly" isn't remotely feasible.

But if you want to put A LOT more kids on A LOT more drugs, that's probably a good idea.

Rifles contributed to 3% of gun deaths in 2020.

78% of mass shootings in America are from hand guns.  

It's about slowly eroding away your rights my friends.  Ban ARs and other long guns, and when that doesn't work, they'll ban the buying/selling of hand guns just like Canada has.

One of the victims was a 14yo black student. I kept seeing on X how family shared pictures of him because they couldn’t get in touch with him. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of. 

His mom had a long criminal history and was in prison as recently as April as well.

I’ll add that junior high boys are the worst. The worst thing K-12 is an 8th grade boy
