We're headed to Siesta Key next week. We plan on doing a day in Tampa/St Pete as well.

I want to go to Ybor City for cigars. We plan on doing a Rays game since they're in town. Nothing else really planned but relaxing at the beach.

Best restaurants we liked when we were on Siesta Key for a week last year.

Siesta Key Summer House Steak and Seafood

Daiquiri Bar

The Cottage

Edit: we also did a kayak tour around the key that we got to see some manatees on.

Nice, I'll look into the kayak tours. That's up our alley for sure.

The Cottage is on the list, that looks good.

Did you mean Daiquiri Deck? That looks like it's worth a visit as well.

Someone from my golf league recommended a place called Munchies 420.

Kayaking in the backwaters of Siesta Key is really fun.

Captain Curt’s was legit and worth the hype, it’s also an OSU bar. I just went off on seafood all over the island the entire time I was there. I can’t recall having a bad meal.

The drum circle on Sundays is also worth checking out. It’s an hour before sunset at Siesta beach…can’t miss it.

Daiquiri Deck was probably it.

I didn't visit Munchies 420.

The Kayak tour took through some nice tree covered glade areas with very small passage ways (1 by 1 through). Was fun, and I hate kayaking.

We cut our Siesta Key stay short due to rain and moved over to St Augustine for the last two days of the trip.

I wouldn't go back to Siesta Key, but the beach was very nice. We did get a drink at the Daiquiri Deck and they were pretty good.

We spent a day in St Pete since the weather was going to be BAD in Siesta Key. We got lunch at a brewery and spent a couple hours chatting with the bar tender. He recommended a cigar bar nearby (Ruby's Elixir) so we went there next. Easy decision since our pup is named Ruby.

I bought a few cigars (2 house blends, 2 others, one from JC Newman that is 100% American tobacco). Decided to sit outside to smoke one, and a guy the next table over overheard me say I might need to buy a new lighter. He said we'll be here for a while, feel free to use mine if you need it.

Soon after it started raining and we were under cover. He and his friend came over and sat with us and we got to talking. He has his own company in the aviation industry, I looked it up on instagram and saw that a friend from high school liked it. Turns out they flew together quite a bit in the past. He said he would be in Cincinnati in July with a bunch of people from his company and they were going to a Reds game. He sent me two tickets in the MLB app and it turns out they are club seats.

Pretty cool chance encounter.

Went to a Rays game after that. The Trop is actually kinda cool.

The hour-ish drive back to Siesta Key after the game SUCKED due the rain.
