The thing with Durant, I probably have him in the top 5 or 6 players in the NBA, however, the Thunder really got going when Russell Westbrook came alive this season. He's easily transformed himself into one of the top 5 PG's in the game over the last half of the season. Not to mention the overall numbers LeBron is putting up.

Durant would be my runner up this year though.
With your first thought in mind, it has to be Kevin Durant.

Durant has more 25 points games this season than LeBron, Kobe or Jordan have ever had in a season. He's been a robot, but not even that beats what LeBron is doing.

Are you sure? I thought Jordan still had more? didn't MJ have like 40 straight games with 25+ points?

Saw a graphic for it on ESPN today. I mean, I may have remembered it wrong, it was early in the AM but I'll look it up.

I think he had 69 and Jordan had 68.

Ok Durant has 65. Jordan's highest is 76. I don't know what the hell I saw, lol I was delusional this morning...well yesterday morning technically. Fuck. LOL

Yeah, I'm not doubting you.. Just thought MJ had an absurd amount one season.. Either way, 68 and 69 are both absurd amounts.

The telling thing to me is though, despite Durantula having all these 25+ games, LeBron is still #1 in scoring.. Well, at least he was.. the games on Wednesday may have changed that.

Should have, Durant scored 37 against Boston. Apparently Kevin Garnett felt as if they were playing "Michael fucking Jordan with the way he was getting the whistle". LMAO, the fork was stuck in your a long time ago KG.

And Durant has been more consistent than LeBron, that's obviously why he has more--but that's more about the teams they play on than anything. They need him to be consistent, LeBron effects the game in other ways and there are nights where he'll go for 18 because there is either like 6 guys in double figures or someone else is going off. Doesn't happen as often for KD because his teammates aren't as good. But yeah, even though I had it wrong 65 is still an amazing number.

And you should have doubted me...I'm fucked up man, I can't be held accountable right now lol...

Ahh, Lebron's highest is 64--I suppose that's what I saw, just got the names mixed up.

Kobe is 68.

Definitely speaks to how great he really is, when he figures out defense someday he's going to be a huge force in this league.

Yeah, I saw KG go into his bitchfest during the post game conference. HILARIOUS.

KD has been the more consistent scorer, no doubt. But like you said, LeBron doesn't need to go for 25+ every night now. He assists and rebounds very well.

I still remember when LeBron was asked what his ideal stat line would be and LeBron replied "20/10/10"...

Durantula is going to be a beast though. Well, he already is. He's a great scorer, and Scott Brooks has him doing other things well like rebounding.

It also helps having Russell Westbrook as your PG. This dude will turn into a walking triple-double himself. I see a lot of J-Kidd in him, but Westbrook has a lot more athleticism. Love this dude at PG.

Yeah, Westbrook is nasty.

Myself and many others, probably yourself included, said last year that the Thunder were going to be a force in this league in a few years--might happen even faster than any of us originally thought.

Last year, I was one of the few who thought that OKC, Memphis, and Charlotte would all turn it around this year.

I think you, burt, and a couple others who escape me at the moment thought the same thing.

I don't think any of us expected OKC to be THIS good though.. But contend for a 8th or 7th seed was definitely expected.. OKC has done a great job of building a team, so much so, that I think they are one of the few model franchises now in the NBA.

I think that the MVP should be the best player. I understand that some players impact their team to such a degree that the team would finish lower in the league etc. etc. without that particular player, but I think that the best overall player deserves this honor.This season I would rate it Lebron #1 and Kobe #2. I do think that the team that wins the over-all NBA Title should have at least a part in deciding the best player, since the Champions are the best team.

ESPN did a similar poll on SportsNation the other day. Lebron had 58%+ of the vote and Durant was second with like 20%.

All that really matters is #1, but if we're ranking them, I wouldn't put Kobe #3. Durant is about as clear a #2 as LeBron is #1 though.

1. LBJ-- Has played amazing basketball on the team with the best record with multiple injuries.. and made it look easy, each night.
2. Durant-- I don't he's the second best player, but this isn't about that. He's had a great year and took a potential team into a watch out team in the playoffs. That team has some really good young talent, but what he's done to lead that team in a tough western conference is nothing short of great.
3. Wade- He's carried that team, yet again. Some thought they'd be the team that missed the playoffs because they didn't make any moves. Now they're a team that might have a lot of hype come playoffs and knocking of the Celtics (if they meet).

Hard leaving Howard off. I suppose there's just too much talent around him to put him in top 3 over my guy.
