The only reason people are talking about Harbaugh IMO, is because he beat USC again this year, which as we now know isn't that big of a deal. This will be Harbaugh's first winning season at Stanford and he was pretty damn close to being 0-3 against Weis and TERRIBLE ND teams, again nothing to write home about.
yesterday you said "no way" to brian kelly, make up your mind...

Schefter knows just as much as we do. This is probably one of the most secretive coaching searches in history, I don't think any of Schefter's sources are legit. Either someone's blowing smoke up his ass, or he's blowing smoke up ours. Either way, he's full of shit.

The only thing we should be paying attention to is official press releases from the University or a flat out admission by a coach that "Yes I have accepted the ND coaching position."

I have ruled no one out, nor am I confident in anyone becoming the new coach. I refuse to be surprised by the final decision. The fact is, nobody is going to give up one iota of info during this search because A)it could fuck up recruiting at the coach's current school B)it could fuck up the very nature of the coaching search itself and C)None of these guys want to be, as Sonny Corleone would say, "coming out of that toilet with just his dick in his hands"

That's because it was supposedly a "lock" for Stoops. No way is Kelly my first choice, but he's probably the next best. It was brought up as an argument to not having Harbaugh.

What I don't get, Rock.....the reasons that you state for not liking Harbaugh....many of those apply to Urban Meyer too yet you want him more than anybody. Urban has done some less-than-classy things while at Florida....and they weren't all provoked.

I've never seen Meyer go for two when he's up by four TD's. Also, I don't know of any other incidents that he was involved in where he wasn't provoked, the whole shenanigans with Georgia was clearly started by Richt, remember that stuff comes back to haunt you. Outside of the Georgia stuff, I really don't know of anything else that he's done like that. Maybe kicking a field goal against Miami when they were up by twenty with a minute left in the game, I know that pissed Warren Sapp off big time but they should have beat Miami by 40, maybe he was trying to impress the pollsters for BCS points.

Randy Shannon didn't care for it either. The timeout vs. Tennessee this season. Yeah, Lane Kiffin pissed him off but still. The Brandon Spikes incident earlier in the year where Urban eventually caved and sat him for game AFTER the media ripped him a new asshole. Otherwise it was a slap on the wrist at best for eye-gouging.

You're kind of arguing semantics. Urban has done some somewhat shady shit even if that doesn't include going for two up that many points.

Maybe the word I'm looking for is "blatant". I don't know, Meyer just doesn't come across to me that way and I think all the stunts he's pulled like that were calculated.

Any way, you can't tell me you wouldn't be doing cart wheels if Urban Meyer was named the new HC at ND.:)

I'd be doing cartwheels alright, naked cartwheels. :D And then I'd name my first-born Urban.

It really is a sickness. I've been a wreck since saturday. my phone now dies about 4-5pm because I've been reloading webpages all day. On the bright side, its prevented me from being nervous about the state championship game friday morning.....

hahaha well I went to the other Catholic high school in Ohio named after a Cardinal (there are only two, right?), we don't play in State Championships. :s

I've clinched As in all of my classes this semester, so now I just sit in lectures with my laptop and filter through "Bob Stoops to Notre Dame" articles. Years from now doctors will tell me I am obsessive compulsive with Notre Dame football; minutes later I will ask why that's a bad thing.

I guess I'm so anxious because I feel, wholeheartedly, that a stellar coach is the only thing Notre Dame needs to rise to the top again. I will state right now it's a big "only," as it's a huge piece of the puzzle. But it's the only thing the program lacks. Are the academics too tough for kids? Maybe for some of the dipshits other schools pull in, yeah. I have no interest in them anyway, and it's good that Notre Dame doesn't either. It's not like Golden Tate is a Molecular Biology major, and he doesn't need to be. Players don't need to be 4.0 students to play at Notre Dame, you're a fool to think that's the case. Recruiting is not a problem, in fact Notre Dame enjoys some of the best recruiting advantages in the country when things are looking bright for the Irish. It's not facilities either. When Lou was there it was an issue, it isn't anymore. The facilities are as good if not better than anywhere else in the country. The Gug is amazing, as is Notre Dame stadium itself.

It's a coach, plain and simple. All of the people out there saying "ahhh gee well Notre Dame just can't do it anymore," and "they aren't what they used to be" are complete idiots. "Can't" and "haven't" are two different things, and the typical idiotic fan simply can't quite grasp it, and never will.

With Bob Stoops at the helm you'd more than likely see Notre Dame in the national championship picture annually, and I think a lot of Buckeye fans are either reluctant to see that or are afraid. I don't know why they'd be afraid, Ohio State is probably the fifth most successful program of the decade, whereas Notre Dame doesn't even crack the top forty.

I'm done talking in circles for the night. It's going to be another fun day tomorrow waiting to hear some new Bob Stoops news.....

Sure, I'd be happy if they got Meyer (which by the way ain't gonna happen). My point was that you say that you don't like this and that about Harbaugh when Urban has done some similarly less-than-classy things. That's all.

Let's just hope that somehow Stoops still ends up at ND.

I think we disagreed about Harbaugh awhile back and I just don't like the guy. It is what it is.

Amen to Stoops though, I hope he accepts the job.

I hope ND names a coach soon. I can't take much more of these "journalists." These guys are just taking whatever rumors they find and turning them into the latest breaking news.

So far, two major rumors have surfaced. The first is the post on ISD about Stoops signing. Bleacher Report took that story, and published an article two days ago saying that Stoops is the guy.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/299902-scout-writer-reports-bob-stoops-will-coach-notre-dame?search_query=bob%20stoops

Then, yesterday, Sean O'Shea said that the deal is done, Kelly to Notre Dame is a go. Everyone picked up on that article, and Bleacher Report published their article citing O'Shea (who doesn't really cite anyone in his article) and says Kelly is the guy. That story ran yesterday.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/301379-at-notre-dame-its-cincinnatis-brian-kelly-who-got-the-job

Between these lazy ass journalists not doing leg-work, coaches, that ND had no interest in, coming out saying they aren't interested in the job, and the ESPN's of the world reporting all of this...recruits have to be losing their minds! I know I am, and other Irish fans, too!

Being serious Notre Dame should take their time and find the right man for the job.

If it takes a week or two longer than some hope so be it.
They need to do what they feel is right for the young men playing ball there.

Don't get me wrong I am not turning into a fan I am trying to look at it as if this was my team and what I would want them to do.
