As far as I've heard, no one has been named coach yet...therefore I wouldn't rule anything out. As Nick Saban and Thad Matta have proven, denials mean absolutely nothing.

My sources are telling me they have thrown a curveball and that Jason Garrett is coming to town...

Stoops to Florida was a done deal when Spurrier went to the Redskins, but last minute changes occurred (Okla coughed up $$$$$$). I know Stoops and his agent had talks with ND. Word is the details could not be worked out. Maybe Kelly wants the job, that gave ND bargaining position w/ Stoops and ND decided they prefer a cheaper Brian Kelly.

Money is a huge reason, and I believe most of these big time coaches really think they can turn it all around. I know most of you hate weis, but he is a perfect example of the arrogance these coaches have.

Guaranteed to lose 3-4 a year? Based on what logic? Notre Dame has the resources to be as good as any team in the country.

Why because the media and ND faithful say so?

Until ND consistently produces top 25 teams, I will not buy into this bullshit of them having resources to be as good as any team in the country.

How do ncf and ccrunner contribute anything to this forum? The ND bashing is getting old and its clear from both of your post counts that you feel the need to post the first thing that comes to mind but the rest of us have a filter (and a life for that matter) and don't fill this board with garbage.

Mooney, whats the big deal. The guy said ND has the resources to be as good as any team in the country. NCF just said what the majority of us want to say. We hear the same stuff every year, its not hate or garbage its the truth. If you want to hear what ND fans want to hear, go over to their forums and continually hype up a program that isn't good.

It happened at Alabama so I have no reason to believe it couldn't happen to Notre Dame especially since the cupboard is far from bare recruit-wise. The right coach makes ALL the difference.

Well then I'm standing by you standing by your info. :) Have you had it reconfirmed, or was the initial news strong enough to convince you entirely?

They will sign Bowden before Stoops would step into this mess. Face it Potato Famine Fans...one of your own leprechans with the name of Kelly is comin' back to the old sod to take you to your next 3 seasons of 5-7, 6-6, 4-8 & out lookin' again.

Is potato famine really the best you can come up with? I don't know what was worse, Notre Dame's defense or that.

This site now worse then JJ. Potato famine? Are you freaking kidding me. You are a dolt. Maybe, King of the Dolt's. NCF is your leg pressing queen.

Notre Dame obviously has the resources when they are able to buyout huge contract after huge contract and go out and pay another new coach a bunch of money. The fact that Stoops would even consider tells you what kind of program ND is.

I dislike Notre Dame as much as the next guy, but it's better for college football when they are good. And to say they don't have the resources to be at the top is just stupid. They were getting top recruits when they were hovering around .500. Just imagine what will happen when they start winning again (which they will).

Crusader 1980 can only mean you are a Moeller alumni and purely by association semi-responsible for the biggest coaching mistake in ND history (which keeps getting tougher to be considering some of the MO-rons they've had since Gerry) but actually I thought Potato Famine Fans was kinda clever...and I'll stick with it until you win 9 games in one season again.

This is a good read on Brian Kelly. Maybe he wouldn't be too bad. I'll starting thinking Bob Stoops isn't coming on Friday though.
kelly should have always been the number one guy, and another thing that article fails to mention, he is *cheaper* than stoops as well....
Yea its always good to buy the "cheapest" product Rocket...that usually works out well in the long run.

I've still never heard anyone explain how ND makes college football any better. I don't believe that for one second about any single score or even traditional powerhouses collectively.

Every year has its own kind of interest and outside of a person's favorite team, do people really think during the season, "boy, this season would really be better if (insert team) was doing good".

When ND is good, ND makes a lot more money. When they are bad or not quite so good, they are usually preventing someone else from making better money. That is good for ND, but does not improve college football in any way.

Tiernan,

Famines that kill an estimated 5 million Irish people, in what scholars describe as a virtual genocide due to militant British rule and crimes against Ireland in which the surviving crops were stolen and exported from Ireland . . . . Hilarious.

Seriously, buy a clue, do some research and think a little harder about your choice of words . . . there are tens of millions of people of Irish ancestry in this country.

you tard, *cheap* implies it would be significantly less costly to hire him in comparison to stoops.
