Weis is a goner IMO. 2009 is his "one more year." He hasn't done enough to keep his job.

From an Oklahoma forum regarding Stoops plane: Tracking the tail number of the plane the coaching staff uses for flights, there have been flights to Chicago in the past week...

There is no way OK is gonna let Stoops use the Univ. plane to go on a "job interview" at ND. That's the most asinine rumor yet.

The OU plane was probably in the neighborhood to sign the contracts for the Oklahoma-Notre Dame series in 2012-2013.

I think if the timeline ever comes out it will be determined that this was in the works following the Pitt game. Thanks to all those who gave me shit for relaying valid information. And no, you don't just boldly declare someone who is supposed to be a 20/1 shot to be the next coach without reason with 2 games left in the season...

So much for Stoops being the next coach at ND.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4701121

Unless Stoops is pulling a Rich Rod, I don't think he is going anywhere from my interpretation of the article.

I wouldn't count it out just yet. Saw a report earlier on ESPN that addressed this and said that Stoops will still be the next head coach at ND.

True, you could find alot of articles. But, the main thing is he STATED that he intends on being at Oklahoma next season. The other articles are speculation, this one quotes him.

I think he is keeping his options open, but I don't think he plans on going to ND.

IMO, he's going to keep stating he's OU's coach until the monetary portion of his ND contract is agreed upon. He's not going to burn his bridge with OU players, fans, or alumni until the ND contract is signed and delivered. It's a smart move on his part, just in case ND falls through the cracks or fails to meet his requirements.

Not saying Stoops won't be the Head coach, but him coming out and saying he intends to stay at Oklahoma certainly doesn't bode well.

If Stoops doesn't take it, where do they go from here?

The one thing that Stoops hasn't said yet is "no", that's why I also think it's a done deal.

If Stoops falls through then it will probably be Kelly, although how shocked would you be if all of a sudden Urban Meyer is announced as the HC.;)

LOL, all wishful thinking. Urban Meyer is 0% chance IMO. Kelly would be second and Stoops first choice if I were the ND AD.

All wishful thinking? I don't think Stoops is a "pipe dream" at all. As for Meyer, notice how I said "shocked".:-/

I don't know who will be Notre Dame's next coach, but I know who won't. They won't get their first two or three choices. I bet it's not Stoops, Meyer, or Kelly. Stoops and Meyer are at two of the biggest programs in the country. They could go through a bad year or two (as Stoops is going through this year) without anyone calling for their heads. I think Kelly will stay pat at UC for a few more years and then go to the Big 10.

Let's face it, Notre Dame is not special any more. The days when ND could pull all the top recruits are over. The only thing ND has going for it right now is money. They get to keep all the bowl money since they are not in a conference and they have their deal with NBC. They are going to have to pay a fortune for their next coach, but they have the money to spend.
