I don't understand why Matta didn't pull Diebler and put Simmons in when Diebler was cold and forcing it in the 2nd half.
It was your own fanbase saying all week that "OSU is winning with their 6 players, they don't need a bench, they don't need to change to beat Tennessee, just gotta play their game like they've been doing and they'll win.
That's because CentralBucksFan and BigGain have been preaching all season about how all we need is 6 players. I've said from day one that this would be their achilles heal and no one wanted to hear it. They couldn't come to terms that it was possible for them to be wrong and that Diebler isn't all "that good." Similarly, they couldn't ever admit that sometimes Matta's decisions aren't the best. I think a little bench time might have done Diebler some good last night. However, not all of us OSU fans were saying all week that we don't need a bench and that we can make a run with just 6 guys. It was only a matter of time until a more physical team just wore us down, someone got into foul trouble (Lighty), and someone shot like a blind man from beyond the arc (Diebler). What I found most sad about Diebler's performance was his defensive effort and the 4 air-balls he threw up. Quite possibly the worst shot selection and some of the ugliest shots i've seen from him this year.
Ohio State lost by 3 points and was out rebounded 36-22. Ohio State lost by 3 points and was out scored in the paint by 20 points. Ohio State lost by 3 points and Tennessee shot 14 more shots in the paint than OhioSstate. How in the hell is playing the skinny 6-0 Hill and 6-2 Simmons more minutes going to solve the one HUGE problem Ohio State had in this game? Lauderdale is the only MAN on the Ohio State roster. You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simmons are going to out play the the 6-10 280 Williams??? You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simmons are going to out play the 6-9 250 Chism??? You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simmons are going to out play the 6-8 225 Hall??? You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simons are going to out play 6-7 Prince??? You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simmons are going to out play the 6-7 Hopson??? You actually think the skinny and short Hill and Simmons are going to out play the 6-5 235 Pearl??? HOW IN THE HELL is the skinny and short Hill and Simmons going to stop the Tennessee Inside Power Game?????
More of your lack of intellect is on display.
Reading the posts that you quoted and your response, where in the fuck do you get the idea that people think Hill and/or Simmons were going to negate what Tennessee did inside? My god, i'm starting to think you really are that fucking stupid. From what i've read and gathered in this thread, nobody is saying that putting Simmons in would have stopped Tennessee inside, that's just ridiculous. However, like you stated, despite all of Tennessee's advantages inside, they only won by 3. Is it not possible that having put Simmons in the outcome would have been different? He had a hot hand at the beginning, maybe that would have continued throughout the game. I mean damn, at least he made some shots, something Diebler sure as hell didn't have very much success doing. Take the fucking blinders off, jesus.
Where the "fuck" have you been all year?? The whiners on here have wanted to see Hill and Simmons get more playing time every game this year. Ohio State's roster doesn't have what would have solved their BIG problem in this game. Matta needed a couple of 6-8 physical athletic bangers. "MY GOD", you're so blind and unknowledgeable all you saw when Simmons HAD to come into the game was his 3 baskets. You failed to notice his lack of height, lack of strength, lack of experience, and lack of defensive abilities which caused Ohio State's lead to diminished, due to Lighty being on the bench. It's painfully obvious your lack of intellect leads to your "fucking" blindness.
Its also quite obvious your ignorant ugly dirty mouth proves you're nothing more than an immature teenager who feels the need to talk like a tough guy, while hiding behind your computer.
"Matta needed a couple of 6-8 physical athletic bangers" OMG? R U SERIOUS? NO WAY! No shit that's what Matta needed, but he doesn't have that and hasn't had it all year, so you use what you got. What the hell did Diebler give us in the game? A bunch of zero's in the stat column. In the short time Simmons played, he outplayed Diebler. I don't give a shit if Diebler has been good the entire year, you don't get another chance in the tourney, like you would in the regular season. If someone isn't performing, you sit their ass on the bench and put someone in that will. You're so incredibly stupid it's baffling. I literally think you would suck Matta off if given the chance. The guy is a good coach, no doubt about it, but sometimes you have to go against what you usually do. If something you've done all year isn't working, then by god you better find something that does.
You mention Simmons lack of height, strength, defense, etc. Diebler is at least 4 inches taller than Simmons. Try and guess how many more rebounds he got than Simmons. NONE! If you're going to try and compare someone's toughness or strength to another player, don't ever use Jon Diebler. That kid is not anywhere close to tough or strong, and not anywhere close to even being considered "good" on defense. Diebler literally did nothing better than Simmons, yet you continue to think that leaving Diebler in was a good idea? Diebler took 4 more shots, in 25+ more minutes and scored 6 points less than Simmons. You honestly believe leaving Diebler in was a good idea?
And please, don't ever tell me i'm blind, because i'm far from it. I've got perfect vision. I can see the mistakes that Ohio State and Matta made in this game, something you fail to do, and have failed to do all year. I can't remember one time where you actually thought Matta made a bad coaching decision. We get it, you like him, but the man makes mistakes, just like every other coach in the nation.
And i'm an immature teenager? You are a LIAR! I am not a teenager, and don't need to use words to back up my toughness, you LIAR!
