My candidates for WCAL MVP....
Hillsdale-Badertscher(41), Whitcomb(78), Moore(10), Fulk (12)
Norwayne-Zimmerly(41), Wallace(45)
Northwestern-Neer(44), McKean(22)
Dalton-Hackett(17), Blevins(32 or 33), Lint(7)
Rittman-Bauman(11), Turberville(85)
Smithville-Blough(39)
Waynedale-Carpenter(5), Miller(85)
Chippewa-none

Guy I think will win: Badertscher(HILL)

Guy I wish would win: Whitcomb(HILL)

I have all the respect in the world for Bauman, but he doesn't deserve M.V.P. on a 4th place finishing team... which is where I think they will end up. Same with Busson last year, I thought Beun deserved that award. I think Badertscher definitely deserves it, or Wallace is Norwayne upsets Hillsdale and wins the league. The coaches have a tendency to give career awards though....so I wouldnt be surprised if Hackett or Blevins got it.

i think the best player deserves it no matter what the record is. Busson got it last year on a 2-8 team, yeah beun was on a better team, but busson was the better player to me

I gotta say Busson was not only the best player in the league last year, he may be one of the five best of all time. Could you imagine if he had been paired with a guy like Nofsinger, Lint or Beun for three or four years? Everyone knew who was getting the ball and he still ran over, around and through people with a terrible line and no support.

My vote goes to Bauman so far this year because if he was on Norwayne or Hillsdale, there is no doubt they would go undefeated.

My vote also goes to Bauman. He has carried Rittman's team since he has been a freshman. He has put up amazing stats on offense and defense in the situation they were in. He plays with a ton of heart.

It wouldn't matter if Beun was on lesser team, he still should have be the league MVP. Busson was the MVP of his team, but he wasn't the best in the WCAL............just my opinion.

Any way, the season still has 4 weeks left in league play, let's wait a little before picking the MVP.
Nobody is talking about the games coming up in two days..........

GO BULLDOGS!!

I'd go with Bauman. One of the leading tacklers on the team, one of the best rushers in the league, and one of the best passers on a team that is restablishing itself near the top of the league. No doubt in my mind he deserves it.....GO RITTMAN!!!

We need to stop screwing around in the first quarter and move the ball. Our first offensive play of the last 2 games has set us back both times. We need to go back to what we do well and that is run the ball. What happened to running Blevins up the middle? That was working so well and we have barely done it lately. I like the way Lint is playing just the moves he put on in that TD catch shows that he is back. I liked the 2nd half last week we really played hard and did not quit. A pleasant surprise was when we put the other Miller in to play D-line. He played a pretty good half there. Hopefully our players have figured out that we need to come out with a sense of urgency. If we can do that we will be just fine this week.
they have came out flat 4 out of the 6 gms we played 2 of the gms they started playing n late 1st or into the 2nd quarter the last 2 gms they didn't start moving the ball till the 2nd half and that didn't work out very good for us we need to come out friday and play all 4 quarters ! i did like L miller did when he came in i think he was very solid and T lint needs to touch the ball little more then he did last wk

i think mentioned that earlier as well - the only time we played well in the 1q was against Garaway. We have just been coming out very flat and had big holes against all of the decent teams we played to come back from.

I just want to know why everybody thinks that Rittman is all of a sudden a contender....Especially after this year? When they lose the seniors that have started four years. Is there talent in the younger grades?

I think we will see a different Dalton team this week. Bulldogs by 2 tds.

Heard there are some changes this week. Also expecting a different team. Needs to be, can't take Rittman lightly. Horst probably back.

I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD SAY A CONTENDER ,BUT I WOULDN'T GO N AND NOT PLAY 4 QUARTERS AGAINST THEM AND THINK U R GOING TO ROLL THEM LIKE THE PAST ! DALTON PLAYED RITTMAN TODAY N JR HIGH THEY HAVE SOME TALENT COMING UP , BUT AGAIN THAT'S JR HIGH ALOT CAN CHANGE FROM NOW TO THEN FOR BOTH SCHOOLS !

I played for the Rittman Eagles peewee teams when I was younger. It really helped me be a better football player, too bad it hasn't helped Rittman as much as it has the surrounding schools.

It figures that a couple of Orrville trolls would show up goofing on the good ole WCAL, must be Ashland week. The Riders are going to take such a pounding on the field this friday they gotta do something to make them feel like tough guys!!!!

GOOOO RIDERS!!!!.....excellence in sports, mediocrity in the classroom & stupidity in the stands!

Laugh! Don't take it personal pal! My dad went to Smithville and my mom went to Waynedale, and my fiance is from Dalton, and her little brother is a freshman. I got some WCAL ties bud.

Now as far as the Orrville vs Ashland game, both teams are 5-1 and could just as easily be 6-0. It is going to be a great game and it is really up in the air as to who will win. Ashland has a great offense, Orrville has a great defense, it's goingto be a great game, you should come! :D I have gone to 2 Dalton games this year one against Smithville, and one against Northwestern. Being from Orrville though, and watching the Riders play div II, III, and IV schools (who make the playoffs consistantly) every week, it made me realize why Orrville never plays a WCAL team in football. It would really be no contest and the level of play of the WCAL is lower than the OCC. When I was watching Dalton/smithville and Dalton/NW I thought I was watching a jv team.

I know I am going to tick a lot of people off by that statement, but seriously before you get your panties in a bunch go to an OCC game and tell me if I am wrong. I even talked to the Dalton AD, and he even agreed with me. A very good WCAL team would be a mediocre team in the OCC.

I would agree with the excellence in sports, mediocrity in the classroom, but not the stupidy in the stands.

Sounds like jealousy to me...... :D

Hey, OrrQB boy,

I don't care if your mommy blew the entire WCAL and HOORAY for you with your league ties. I'm so impressed.

I said before and still maintain the only time Orr fans tend to show up on this thread is to goof on the WCAL before a game where they are underdogs and have a good chance of getting spanked.

I also never compared the WCAL to the OCC. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the difference in play, but it takes a look down your nose punk to act like a WCAL fan doesn't know anything about football. So thanks for gifting us with your grand knowledge of the game.

Not that it matters one iota, but I'm a 20 year Wayne County transplant from Strongsville and I'll tell ya sonny boy....Go see the Mustangs play, they are about as far ahead of the Riders as you folks are above a WCAL type school. (except for Black River who I'm pretty sure pulverized you guys in the playoffs a few years back) sorry, couldn't resist.

My basic point is, just because you played at Orrville doesn't mean you know football and a lowly WCAL fan doesn't.
Now, don't make me put you over my knee again, go back to the Orrville thread and be a good boy.

Beast-your earlier post is truly uncanny. It just goes to show if you "sandbag" enough, your team will start doing it too. I have nightmares they will wake up for the NWN game.

Mr.Russell-I said I would consider the tribe a contender if they beat Norwayne. They didn't and I don't. They are much improved though. Besanscon is a fine coach, I don't know about their up and coming kids but I think he will get the most out of them.

Bloody Toothbrush-Sick'em chief, you make some valid points, unfortuntely most Orr fans won't get it.

Now for this weeks games.....

Smithville at Northwestern-Shrock at Thut-Teacher at Student. Hopefully the Huskies wake up Saturday with a winning record. You never which Husky team will show up. Smithville may not have the best line in the league but they certainly aren't anywhere near the worst.

Waynedale at Hillsdale-I saw the Bears last week and they are light years better than 0-6. The problem is...Hillsdale is the real deal and the Bears will still be the best 0-7 team in the state.

Chippewa at Norwayne-Bobcats by 50 (in the first half)

Dalton at Rittman-I think the Dawgs have got their quota for regular season losses filled. The tribe will pay for Falcon & Husky victories. Look for the "Backfield from Hell" (Lint, Blevins & Hackett) to run wild while containing Bauman & Tuberville. Dawgs by 20
