Suspended for what? How can you violate a player conduct policy when you haven't even been charged with a crime? What if nothing happened?

Again, if that happens, which I doubt unless he's charged with a crime, he should give Goodell a dose of his own medicine and sue the league.

The problem is, Goodell wanting to talk with Ben is being intrepreted as a possible suspension, which is crazy when according to the law (up to this point) he's done nothing wrong.

I hope he does get some kind of penalty so maybe he'll get his head out of his ass and stop putting himself in these situations. I like having him as my team's QB but if he's not going to grow up, then we have to move on and pick someone with more maturity when he's not wearing a helmet.

Suspended for what? How can you violate a player conduct policy when you haven't even been charged with a crime? What if nothing happened?

Nothing says that the code of conduct must mirror the criminal justice system in severity or process.

Because he's put himself in terrible situations on many occasions..thus..making the NFL look bad. You think it would be the first time someone has been suspended by Goodell without being charged with anything? I don't know if he will or won't be suspended..and quite honestly..I could care less..but if you honestly think that the thought hasn't crossed the Goodells mind and that suspension isn't even an option..then you are a dumbass.

Read the above article posted by BR1986FB. Mike Tomlin is starting to speak like a head coach getting fed up with off field distractions. Having said that, It would be a cold day in hell before they would give him the Cedrick Wilson treatment.

Imagine that......GoChiefs calling someone a dumb ass, kind of ironic isn't it?

I just would like to know where you guys are coming up with these suspension stories even if Ben isn't charged.........out of your asses? Every single thing I've read or heard on the radio is dispelling a suspension even if he isn't charged. The haters are HOPING he gets suspended even if he's not charged. And how is Goodell wanting to talk to Ben a sign that he wants to suspend him? Keep making up your nonsense.

I'm not saying he should be, I'm simply saying that a criminal charge is not a requirement for the league to suspend someone, unless that's what the CBA calls for.

Goodell said in a letter spelling out Jones’ latest suspension, that the whole situation was a continuation of “a disturbing pattern of behavior and clearly inconsistent with the conditions I set for your continued participation in the NFL.” Jones had priorly been suspended for the entire 2007 season for multiple violations of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. In reinstating Jones on Aug. 28, Goodell said that the player’s participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a socially responsible manner, avoiding any other conduct that brings disrespect to himself, his team, or the NFL

If he wants to suspend for non-criminal behavior which makes the NFL look bad, he has and he will do it again.

Lets not forget where the commish got his power.

After the last CBA the owners gave up some of their rights to punish players for non football related issues. Some clubs had their own personal conduct clauses and such. Some teams took heat from the players union for suspending guys and such, making them inactive etc. They gave up much of that power in the last CBA.

The league then decided they needed to step in because things werent looking good when the players are arrested and not a whole lot could be done.

The commish job is difficult to dole out the punishment There is always more to the stories and the player's history that we know.


I look for a small suspension...maybe 1-2 games even if not charged/convicted.

You may be right, but there is something that should be brought up that's been levied against the commish, the race card.

And Ed Bouchette said this morning on Stan and Guy that he and alot of other people feel that Ben will not be suspended unless there's charges leveled against him. He went on to say these are accusations and nothing is fact which gives Goodell no basis to suspend him. All the examples that have been posted are a direct result of the league conducting their own investigation, I believe Bouchette said there's a security team in place at every franchise. He has no basis what so ever to suspend him, unless he knows something that everyone else doesn't.

Exactly. After dropping the hammer on Pacman, Chris Henry & Stallworth, he's gonna get some kind of suspension and I doubt it's 1-2 games. Goodell doesn't like "his" league being embarrassed.

To all the Steeler haters out there. Ben hasn't been charged with a crime yet.This case is no different than me accusing BR1986FB of sexually assaulting me. Pacman, Henry, and Stallworth were all charged with their crimes. Stallworth killed a man for Gods sake. Like I said before, if he is charged suspend him. If he is found guity, kick him of the team. Race has nothing to do with this.

These charges have brought negative attention and embarrassment to the league. That's ALL he needs.

I laughed my ass off when Tomlin, at the owners meetings, said his team was "above and beyond our peers." That's rich.
