I picked up the Droid from Best Buy for $99 last Saturday. Not sure what the sales are this week though.

^^yea I think I'm going to buy my phones via BB for now on. Instant rebates, and often times the prices are cheaper anyway. I have my mom on my plan, and if we would have purchased the phones directly from VZW we would have easily paid $500. Instead we went to best buy and got two brand new phones (Droid, and LG Choco Touch), and a ZAGG touchscreen shield...paid $125 OTR. My mom's phone was free.
VZW had the Droid for $199 after mail in rebate (really $299), and then the Choco Touch for like $179 with either a $70 or $100 mail in rebate. $299 + $179 + $20 shield = $498. Sure we get the rebate back, but I'd rather keep my hundo in my pocket now.
It was pretty funny, because we walked into the Verizon store, switched the plan into my name (I get a discount), and then upgraded the plan. Then told the rep that we're going to go to Best Buy to buy the phones. The look on her face was priceless. LOL. I didn't mean to really throw it in the reps face like that, but my cousin works in the cell phone section at Best Buy and he's always talking about it's cheaper to buy phones there. Now I know.
edit...the LG Choco Touch was actually $100 with a $50 rebate according to my mom...so a total of a little over $400

So...did the Motorola Droid outsell the iPhone or did phones running the Android OS outsell the iPhone?

Phone is much cheaper than the Iphone and can do pretty much the same things. In this economy...people are going to want a great phone at a great price. Not surprised.

ATT has a solid network, they just gravely underestimated the strain that iPhones would put on their network. That's why they put off MMS messaging for awhile. As a non-smartphone user, I am perfectly content with their network.

Had AT&T for a few years before I got my Droid and switched to Verizon. I'm much happier with Verizon than I was with AT&T. But to each his own of course.
