I know it's not the same situation, but it is similar to what the Colts faced (and many NFL teams yearly) this year. They could have went for the undefeated season, or choose to rest guys for the playoffs.Laley23 wrote: why would anyone ever hope your team doesnt win a championship? I could see thinking after the fact "this is probably not awful"...but to actually HOPE they lose and dont win a championship is bizarre to me.
I was critical of the Colts because they had the perfect season going. But they saw the big picture and thought it gave them a better chance of winning the Super Bowl.
There is no way that Matta plays PJ Hill 25 minutes in the Big 10 tournament to rest Turner or whoever else, but if he did, I wouldn't be opposed to it.
With that said, of course they want to win the Big 10 tournament. But I think OSU has locked up a 2 seed regardless of how the rest of the season plays out. And if they do drop to a 3, it's not that big of a difference. I don't think they have a shot at a 1, because three are locked up and I think Duke, Villanova and Kansas State are all ahead of OSU for that final spot right now.
And the difference from the second round games for a 1 seed vs. a 2 seed is irrelevant.
