Im gonna guess we would get the last number 2 seed. I say this because we are ranked in the top 8 in both polls (AP and ESPN) as of today. Our record against ranked oppenents is pretty good and OSU record on the road and in neutral courts is also pretty good. Our RPI and SOS is the only thing that worries me that we could still slip to the 3 line.

2nd seed

no higher than that. But depending on if they get upset in the Big 10 tournament. I would have to go with 3rd.

I think the top 6 are Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, Duke, Nova, and Kansas State.

Then, in my opinion, the final two 2 seeds would go to some combo of OSU, Purdue, and New Mexico.

I would say 2 seed right now, 3 seed at worst.

A 2 or a 3, and if those seeds are basically the same since they are in the same side of the bracket.

Right now a 3. If we win tomorrow and make it to the finals in the big 10 tourny it's a 2.

As of March 1st, Joe Lunardi has Ohio State as a three seed in the East regional. In that regional, Villanova is the two seed and Kentucky the number one seed.

I'd probably go last two or first third.

If they win the Big Ten regular season and tournament, I could see them grabbing a high 2, and depending on other teams, sneak in for the last one... Though I doubt that happens.

im confused as to why new mexico is ranked so high?..who have they beating? and they have lost to some pretty bad/par teams (i.e. oral roberts, unlv, san diego state) and each loss was by 9 or more..

^^^You dont really think that UNLV (22-7) and SDSU (20-8) are bad teams do you?? They have those records in the 6th best conference in America. 2 Loses on the road. They have a win over Cal, Dayton, Texas A&M, and BYU (2).

Their RPI is 7
They are 4-0 vs RPI top 25
They are 11-2 vs RPI top 100
They are 16-1 vs RPI over 100 (so only one bad loss, ORU)

They have a damn good resume, and pass the eye test as a damn good team. They are very worthy of a 2 seed.

Unfortunately, Laley, this is the time of the year where people who don't know much about basketball and don't follow it until the NCAA Tourney start coming out of the woodwork with questions like that. I guess that's what comes along with the best sport in the world!

OSU would be and should be a 3. IMO they are the 10-12th best team in the country which would put them on the 3 line.

Unless, they win out including the conference tournament, they should be a 3. If they win out, they are a 2.

I shouldn't jump to conclusions about who knows what, so I apologize for that. However, New Mexico has a great resume, and the Mountain West is a pretty good league. They deserve their ranking, and I don't think many will disagree with that.

They better hope Duke loses either one of their last 2 games or in the ACC tourny because Kansas, Cuse, and UK are all pretty much locks for #1 seeds and if Duke wins out they will get the last #1 seed.

Really. There are what, 32...33 total conferences in Division 1??? The 6th best is damn good. They have 2 locks in BYU and UNM, and SDSU and UNLV have very good teams who could win the league tourney and make it a 3 bid league...hell some people have them on the bubble as it is.

Lundardi currently has OSU #3. But he has Purdue at #2. Which, at this point, I don't agree with mainly because of Hummell being out. I think right now, OSU would be ahead of Purdue as the #2.

IMO they should be a #2 seed but they'll probably end up a #3 seed.

They lost some games without Turner that they would have won easily.

I wouldnt say you stand corrected. The argument can ALWAYS be made against the mid-majors because their "easy" games in conference are usually significantly easier than a power schools "easy" games in conference.

But in this case, I dont see it. They are the best team out west. Better than Gonzaga. I have watched a LOT of the western teams this year late on ESPN/2. I think the rankings go like this:

1. New Mexico
2. BYU
3. Gonzaga
4. Utah State (ALMOST put them ahead of the Zags)
5. Cal

Kansas has Kansas St. tomorrow and perhaps again in the conf tourney. Lost them both, they arent getting a #1 seed. I do see Ohio St. though as a strong 2.
