kind of spin off from the most boring drives thread...

what are the most interesting areas to drive though? (anywhere)

One of my favorite spots is I-75 in Tennessee just south of the Kentucky border where you are up on a ridge and can see the awesome views on both sides. Also kind of funny seeing an exit for "Stinking Creek Rd" near that spot

also, I-26 from Johnson City, TN through the mountains to Asheville, NC is pretty scenic. I-77 from Charleston, WV down into NC is a nice drive as well. Also, it's been awhile since I was there, but I remember I-8 through the mountains in southern California between the Arizona border and San Diego was pretty cool as well. At one point the 2 separate halves of the interstate split apart and there was literally a mountain in the median, and there was another spot where the 2 halves crossed over due to the topography and for a while you were on the left hand side of the other lanes going the opposite way

NOL i always see that spot on I75 your talkin about.....we go to jelico tn. every year for a family reunion its a very calm drive

17 Mile Drive around the Monterrey Pennisula is probably the prettiest stretch of land in the United States. It is almost dangerous to drive there because you have a tendency to look at the views and forget about watching where you are going.

I-77 is fun, especially through West Virginia; it's very nice in Virginia too. I-75 is pretty great, very easy drive to Florida. We went down a year ago this Friday and we sped the entire way and didn't see a single police officer. Props to them.

I am not a fan of the turnpike through Pennsylvania.

I-70 Westbound through the Rockies in Colorado is a pretty awesome drive. In fact, just about any drive in Western Colorado would qualify.

Route 1N along the California coast is great as well.

101 in Northern California is pretty awesome.

Route 17 north out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario along Lake Superior is beautiful as well. I've done it at least 9-10 times and it never gets old.

The California coast drive is breathtaking. Also, a drive around Lake Tahoe is to see tranquility at its finest.

The drive on 77 south as you come down the mountain and look east is amazing. Anyone know how far it is on the horizon???

I-64 through the Virginia highlands is a pretty nice drive.

My favorite drive is between Vegas and LA. I'm probably in the minority, but I love the desert as much as points A and B.

I used to drive from my house in St Pete to work in Bradenton everyday...the drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge NEVER got old. The bridge is 11 miles long and has views of Tampa Bay on ones side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other.

This is on my list of places to see. My Dad has been there and would agree it's the prettiest area to drive through

Western Colorado = Awesome.

Eastern Colorado = basically an extension of Kansas and Nebraska and extremely boring

It is awesome, on a clear day it's hard to beat the view. I live 20 minutes from the top of the skyway so I see it quite often.

Route 1 in California. Agree with PB73 on the Monterey 17-Mile-Drive--you almost can't see much because of all the twists and turns on the drive. And at $10 or so, not sure it's worth doing more than once in one's life.

17 Mile Drive was great but would only do it once because of the fee
