I'm interested in burning a few movies off of the net but I am not really sure how to do it. Any insight would be appreciated.

I typically download .avi from Limewire then convert them to DVD using a converter program(WinAVI). Then just burn them to a DVD.

I highly suggest using torrents over limewire. MUCH safer. I mean..so I've heard..since you know..burning movies is illegal and all. If your a beginner...I would suggest just downloading the movie...then use windows movie maker to burn it to a disc. I heard that's a pretty easy method.

Ha trust me I have bought my share of dvds legally. Don't worry I won't be burning any movies.

Just out of curiosity Laley what is your future job?

Pretty sure the MPAA is killing the industry.

I'd just sign up for Netflix or rent the movies and burn them. Much safer and there is no record of the burn. Wouldn't trust my ISP to not report me because they don't like you using large amounts of bandwidth to download movies.

Disagree. This causes the industry to adapt to changes in the marketplace much like the recording industry has. Since they started making songs available online for a relatively cheap price the illegal downloading has gone down a great deal.

I download movies and then buy the blu-ray if I enjoy them.

The main reason I wanted to burn a few is because sometimes I have a problem with getting the disc in and out of the box when I open them and they get a little scratched. I just don't want to keep replacing them.

I agree with the sentiment but you couldn't have used a worse example. The music industry is not a good example of adapting to changes. Anything they've changed about the way they operate has been done with them kicking and screaming the entire way.

I was just kidding guys. My role in the industry is as a broadcaster/graphics/audio/tape (aka, guy who does the replays)/cameraman. I have almost mastered all of those skills.

Ultimately I hope to be some sort of broadcaster (PxP or Color, Radio personality, Anchor of some sort etc.)

I work in sports, so the industry isnt going anyway for the forseeable future. If anything, the TV portion of sports is getting bigger.

I actually dont really have a problem and dont think the illegal stuff is killing anything, although I personally dont do it (mainly out of the respect of some of the people I have met). However, I have a SERIOUS ISSUE with people that illegally DL music or movies and then turn a profit off of them. That does irk the hell out of me.

Well yeah, that's just plain wrong. I simply have a problem blaming the average consumer for getting movies/music illicitly when they are often of higher quality and more convenient to use from those sources.

I beg to differ. RR was bitching at us yesterday because my roommate was downloading episodes of Entourage from BitTorrent.

I am not sure if it is safer, but limewire seems to have more junk on it(bogus files, viruses, etc).

I use isohunt to find the movie files, then I use Bitlord to download them. I burn them with Nero 7.

On dvds that I have rented or bought, I copy them with Anydvd and Clone DVD.

NOTE: I find it much easier to use this instead of buying discs....it is a neat little toy.

I use Azureus to dl the torrent files. I use Roxio which will convert the file automatically to a large # of formats and then burn it to DVD. This allows you to view the DVD on your pc, Xbox 360, PS3, etc..I have got several Brazilian Jiu-jitsu DVD sets this way :)

I believe this qualifies as a personal attack. I need another mod to verify this.

It is safer.

I'm assuming RR is road runner. They'll bitch at you for anything they notice you doing involving music or movie industry property because they have agreed to spy on you "but only to catch the thieves".

I do mean Road Runner, but it was a formal complaint from these cocks:
