You find it hard to believe that a team who has went 38-10 over the last two seasons and played in back-to-back district championships, returns 5 seniors, and they aren't as good? I want what you're smoking.

We know Loudonville is good; they're a tough game for us every year, as we are for them. But Utica's won 3 MBC titles in the last 4 years. Until someone proves they can win enough games in the conference to prove otherwise, it will be our conference in basketball. Fredericktown did it in the '07-'08 season, but they had to go undefeated to do it because we were right there with them all season. For me the key is can Loudonville handle the pressure better than last season? Especially if that means having to go undefeated to win the league? They had a chance last season at the conference, beating us handily at their place, but they lost a few to teams they probably shouldn't have. As I've said since June, next saturday's matchup (12/12) at Utica will be great and we'll get to see how the two teams match up. But the game at Loudonville will decide who wins the MBC in my opinion.

R_S_P I completely agree. The Redbirds need to take care of business against Danville on Sat. and again on Tues against Waynedale. Then on Wed they can start concentrating on Utica. One thing I have noticed is the Redbird Defense is much improved from last season.

Easy big chief. I implied that I had not seen Utica play. Just saying Loudonville was very good and if we have two teams in the conference that good, well that's great but maybe a little freaky.

I think we will have two teams that good this year. Utica is the real deal, you don't beat Heath without being good. Heath has a solid team and I don't see them losing many games this year (like, 3 or 4 at the most). And I KNOW Loudonville is for real. They beat our ass like a redheaded stepchild last year at their place, and we only beat them by like 4-6 at our place. Loudonville is deeper, while Utica has more experience. Loudonville has arguably the best player in the league (Orchard) with a very solid cast around her, and Utica has arguably the best coach in the league with Coach Snow.

It may be well worth your while to take a little drive down to Utica next saturday BPM, and catch this game. JV starts around 1, varsity at 230. We want to have the gym as absolutely packed as possible, so everyone, if you want to catch a great game, come on down. It'll be a rockin' atmosphere, and likely one of the best games of the year, definately in the MBC!

Utica gets in done in Jtown this afternoon 54-27 and moves to 4-0. Not their best performance, but it's a W. The girls have a week off to prepare for Loudenville. Nice job Skins!

Loudonville wins an ugly game at home against Danville 61-29. Redbirds put 3 players again in double figures lead by Scarberry with 17. Both teams combinded for 55 turnovers. Loudonville has Waynedale on Tues. and then Utica on Sat.

Redbirds win by 25. 68-43. Waynedale played a triangle and 2 on Orchard and Scarberry. Kept Orchard to 5 points. But the Redbirds got huge nights from Vanhorn and Ryan each tossing in 19. Scarberry managed 11 and Baker added 8. Plus 4 from Miranda Stake and 2 from Brie Cox.

Redbirds now can focus the rest of the week on the Showdown @ the U.

Wow ! Anyone that loves watching girls highschool basketball needs to be at this game Saturday (12/12) with Utica and Loudenville! I see 2 teams very evenly matched that can produce 70 points a night. This will be a high scoring game and the team that can stay out of foul trouble will most likely walk away with the win. These are 2 teams that are 4-0 and the winner takes over 1st place in the league. I guarentee you will get your money's worth on this game. My bet is on Utica with a home victory by 3 pts over the redbirds. 73-70. Any other predictions or thoughts ?

I don't think either team will get close to 70. Both teams play very good defense, I see more of a game in the 40s low 50s. It really depends on how the two teams decide they want to play on Sat. Will they want to play a slower pace or an uptempo kind of game.

^Utica will run at Loudonville all afternoon on offense, and press on defense. I wouldn't bet on a low-scoring game, unless Utica isn't hitting their shots. Then Loudonville may be better off with the tempo that way. If both teams show up, I think you'll see the winning team in at least the 60's Rbirdsman. I think you'll see both teams show up; both have a lot to play for, and Utica hasn't forgot the butt-kicking we got last year on the road. That's the worst Utica has lost in-conference since Coach Snow took over, and I have no doubt that's been a motivational too for a lot longer than just this week! It will be a GREAT game on saturday. Whoever wins, will be by less than 5 IMO.

Ill take Utica, 65-64. Obviously biased here, but I think Corbett and Londot show up and do their thing, Davis is solid at both ends, and Wolfe and Overton put us over the top. I look for those two, our two youngest players by class (sophmore and freshman respectively) to combine for 20-25 points. Wolfe is a very good rebounder, and so is Overton for a guard, so I look for solid point production, rebounding and of course, DEFENSE from them. I expect Scarberry, Vanhorn and of course, Orchard to all have big games for the Redbirds (especially since Orchard is coming off of a 5 point game; she might score 30+ if we can't defend her), but I think at home, good coaching, good crowd, and several younger players developing nicely make Utica a real riddle to figure out for other teams, and a very nice suprise for us fans this year.

The approach will be fairly similar to Heath I would think, without trying to give up 42 to Orchard like we did to White...survive the storm from the star player early (Orchard always plays good against us), and just stay close, wear them down with pressure, and by the 4th period, take Orchard away as much as possible and force someone else to win it for Loudonville. I think they're more balanced than Heath, but I think we're the MOST balanced team Heath or Loudonville will play this year. Especially if Lugar can give Londot ANY kind of help inside. If not, I'm all for putting in younger players.

4theteam, any chance they'll put a freshman on Orchard, like we saw with Megan White?? She did a very good job despite a height disadvantage, by making up with speed. She won't be faster than Orchard, but she might be able to match her. Any thoughts on this?

I think there is every chance that Overton will be put on whomever is scoring the most if it's Orchard or Scarberry or whomever. I would look for Snow to continue continue making adjustments as the game moves on. I also think Lugar needs a big game for us inside which will open up our wings for the 3 point assault and keep potential foul trouble off Londot. I am really stoked for this game, what a great early season matchup!

Birds win.....a real 'team' this year. Orchard had tremendous passing last game! 19,17,15, and then Scarberry 11, and Orchard 6. Can score from anywhere.

Looks like we all agree on one thing. This game will be very, very close.

Less than 48 hours until gametime! Cant wait for this one. This will be both teams second tough test of the year (Smithville for the Redbirds, Heath for Utica). Looking to see us start fast in this one. We can't get behind this team by 13 early like we did against Heath, or we may be out of it before we have a chance to respond.
