I have to admit, I am running out of excuses to give to my 5 yr old son who of course has never seen Michigan beat OSU.

I see there are still supporters of RR. The negative publicity of the football program overall is the issue that eats at me the most. RR is the center of this negative publicity. I am curious to those RR supporters what's it going to take for those of you to realize he just doesn't fit at Michigan. I'm not saying he's a terrible X's & O's coach, but he just doesn't fit with the Michigan program. There are certain expectations and certain ways things are done at UM, and he's trying to add his spin to it.

If he goes 7-5 this year then yes he should get another year (They MUST beat MSU and ND). IF that happens and he is still at AA in 2011 then there is no excuse to not be in the top 2 for the big 10 and he would have to beat OSU for him to survive. So yes I will say "wait till next year" if they go 7-5 next season.

Some fans saying that Harbough is unproven and only has 1 good season under his belt, the same could be said about RR. He had 1-2 good seasons at WVU, and that was in a depleted Big East.

RR's system will not work on a week to week basis in the Big Ten. The smaller the players (he likes the smaller, fast players) the more they get banged up every week. His system is succesful against a Big Ten team in a bowl game possibly, because it is just one game, they don't have to face the physical abuse every week. But when you play that system every week in the Big Ten, your players get hurt.

Example, Tate Forcier and McGuffie. Forcier was great his first 4-5 games. He got worse and worse every week though because of that brutal, physical Big Ten schedule IMO.

I'm not so sure his system is the problem, it's that he neglects personnel (bigger, more physical types who can play defense, for example) in favor of his system, the almighty "spread" offense.

Now that Devin Gardner is at UM, success is more than likely to come, at least we think so. What happens when he leaves and UM doesn't have a successor. Case in point, the West Virginia vs. Pitt game 2007. Pat White was a great talent at WV, and when he was injured in the game, that offense could not move the ball. You mean to tell me there was not a suitable backup on that roster that could have engineered that offense to score more than the nine points they ended up with? So with that said, Gardner leaves and no spread QB with his ablitlites, is 3-9 and 5-7 acceptable again????????? NO!!!!

Not to seem as though I'm piling on here, but here is another thought you UM supporters need to keep in mind. UM has spent the last three years ignoring defense for the most part and recruiting offense geared toward the spread, having not proven it to be successful in the Big 10. Please don't claim success based on what other teams have done against other Big 10 teams as relevant as it is not. So you have this potntial scenario:

RR is again not successful during the '10 campaign, the natives are restless, he gets the boot. Now you have a stable full of undersized players geared toward an offense/defense that can't win in the Big 10. So they hire coach X who has no intention of using these type of players, this brand of offense that has proven inneffective against the Big 10 competition...now what?

Basically, UM has a lot of eggs in this friggin' basket, RR either wins, and wins now or the top brass at UM has the potential to have placed Michigan in the "also rans" bracket for a damn decade. In my opinion, that's just too big a risk for UM to have taken.

Fail in the past 2 seasons RR has 27 D commits and 20 O commits(couple of these guys were moved to D)
So I would say the majority of the recruting would have been focused on getting QB's to fit his system(4 qb's in two years) and D players

That loss is more unacceptable than the Toledo one. The Toledo loss is the most embarassing loss in Michigan football history bar none!!! Appy State had exceptional athletes some were transfers from D1 schools. The above mentioned players, none of them played defense who gave up 34 points in that game.

thats not the argument here....u said that the toledo loss was worse then the appy state loss. The season that UM lost to Appy State they were a pre-season top FIVE team with a ton of NFL talent (finished the season with a win over florida). The UM team that lost to toledo was using a would have been 2/3 string guy for his career, a true fresh RB, and had 0 returning guys on the OL. Not to mention that the best WR on the team was also a true freshman. (they finished the season with a ass beating by OSU). So I would say that the 8-4 team with a ton off NFL talent losing (at home) to a FCS team is much worse then a 3-9 team with little-no NFL talent losing to toledo. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree though

So far on this site there has been two different occasions that someone tried to say I was a former poster on the other site.(Can't remeber who said it or who they thought I was) I'll say it again, I had at the most 2 post on the other site and it wasn't even on the college thread(I don't think I ever even read the other site's college forum). Also, don't take my word for it if you don't believe that Bo wanted RR to be the next coach(remeber most people thought that season was going to be Carr's last, Henne, Hart, Long, and co. convinced him to stay one more year) just go to scout.com and ask Tom/Sam(the two main UM insiders for the site).

See above.........Im not defensive for RR unless he deserves it, he has dealt with more crap at UM then anyone should ever have to. Im just being realistic, year1 at UM for RR name one coach that would have accomplished anything with that team. Year 2 for RR everyone got overexcited with the 4-0 start and expectations shot up and everyone forgot that they still were a very young team. Think about how close they were to being 8-4/9-3(I know think about how close they were to being 2-10 or w/e) but to me that is signs of a very young team. Now IF he doesn't win at least 8 games this year and beat ND,MSU(unacceptable to lose 3 straight to them), Purdue(same as MSU), and Illinois(same as MSU,Purdue) then ill be the first person on here to say get rid of his ass. But you have to give the guy a chance.
