You're joking right??? Diebler tied Lauderdale with 4 rebounds behind Turner's 9. Not bad for a "white guys can't jump" 2 guard. Didn't you notice he was often under the basket battling, tipping, touching the ball surrounded by 5 taller players in an effort to keep the ball alive?

I will admit, Diebler did a much better job hitting the boards this game and getting involved more than just lifting threes all game. Probably the best overall game I think Jon has had this season.

Yep, points aside Deibler played pretty well today, add the points and I thought he played great.

I'd be lying though if I didn't say I'd like to see more consistency out of him, but today was a good day.

Ive been a big critic of Diebler this year. Hitting the 3's is something we knew he could do if open. Last few games he seems to be actually playing decent defense, rebounding and taking the ball to the basket and dishing. A few of his 3's today were off not so good passes and IMO he is getting his shots off quicker.

The last game against Indiana Buford had 21 points and 7 rebounds. Today Buford wasn't getting as many looks(2 of 6, one basket short of 50%) with Diebler being hot from behind the arc. Good grief, with Turner being Turner and Lighty being Lighty, if Diebler and Buford BOTH get 20 in the same game Ohio State would easily beat Kansas.

It did look to me like Buford was limping when he left the floor.

Well no shit. But thats why Kansas is Kansas. They arent gonna just let all 4 guys go off on them. They play defense....much better defense than Illinois and CERTAINLY better than IU (who might be the worst defensive team Ive seen in a long time).

This, I did not see. What I did see, was Buford as bad as I have seen him. He let his shot affect the rest of his game. I know at least 3 times he didn't drop to the basket as the weekside person on the 1-3-1 needs to. YOu can have off games offesively, but there was no excuse to not be there mentally on defense.
He also picked up his 3rd foul fairly early, thus the reason he went to the bench...then Simmons came in and played "ok", and Matta stuck with him.
Hopefully it was one game, as OSU will NEED Buford big time on Tues vs Purdue.

In regard to a previous thread that questioned whether Buford was ready to transition to the NBA....I think today's game helped to answer all of those questions. The kid needs another year, plain and simple.

EXACTLY....OSU fans expecting ALL of Ohio State's Big Four to score 20 every game need a reality check.

No limp, just his ego being hurt. He was bad today. Simmons came in and played better. So Matta kept him on the bench.
Bufford may have had an off game but Simmons did not play better. He doesn't play team ball. He just grabs and shoots every single time. I can't stand seeing him on the court anymore. He can get hot with his shot but is very selfish and only seems to worry about getting his shots whether or not it helps the team.

Anybody know why ESPN doesn't have the game against MSU listed on the schedule? That seems like a pretty big thing to miss.

I noticed that too. Not to worry though, ohiostatebuckeyes.com still shows that this game is on CBS next weekend.

I'm not sure how Simmons could aggravate you that much being that he has hardly seen the floor in conference play. As far as today's game, I completely disagree with your opinion. He certainly didn't play flawless, but he had 5 pts, 3 assists, a steal, and zero turnovers in 16 mins. He took one ill-advised three but also had one three rattle in and out. I think it's great that Simmons has had some positive mins. the last couple of games. It's obvious Matta basically has a 6 man rotation, but if the Bucks make a deep run (hopefully) in the tournament, I think we will need more of the same from Simmons. If the Bucks play at least 3-4 games in the tourney, it is likely foul trouble will be an issue in at least 1 game and Simmons will need to step up.

As far as Buford, it was definitely his worst conference game but still didn't compare to a couple of his early non-conference games like North Carolina. And he was hurt when he came out. He called the trainer over immediately and later on he was laying on the ground (near the baseline) stretching out with the help of the trainer. He never went to the locker room and was smiling and cheering on his teammates at the end, so hopefully it's not serious.

Ha why does it seem like everyone is complaining on this thread? We just kicked the snot out of Illinois and now we're in first place. Once Turner went down I definitely gave up hope that we'd be in the spot we are in now. I can't wait til Sunday cuz I'm headin up to Lansing

Agree! Some folks just aren't satisfied. The scary thing is that if Turner never gets hurt, the Bucks are likely 23-3 right now, ranked in the top 5, and in sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. Relax guys, this team is doing better than what some may realize.

#12 in the other poll. It is not out of the realm of possibilities for them to grab a 2 seed. These next two games would catapult this team into the top 8.

I found it interesting, when someone on ESPN was talking about ND's Harangody not playing now due to sprained knee. Saying the Selection Committee takes into consideration games teams lose when their best player is injured, if that player comes back and plays at top form for several games before the regular season is over. If that is true, Ohio State's losses to Butler, Minny and Michigan, when Turner was out, might not be as detrimental as thought.
