I really enjoyed seeing all the seniors of not only boy's basketball and cheerleaders, but the girls and the swim team and all the parents. That was cool. I'm very proud of all of them.

I'm looking forward to seeing Flash post up a lot of pics and reading RR1's take on the game, along with stats, as he was "in The House" tonight! (yeah, I saw ya come in with your dad!)

ANDDDDD...............what a great pleasure it was to meet up and chat with a former student and player of mine and a good old pal whom I have the pleasure of having his son in class...................Tom Bolyard................in The House tonight!!

Senior night at Orrville:

Wasn't our best game, but it was a W. Fouls took us out of our game. Sam had 2 in the first minute. Fouled unnecessarily and missed too, many inside shots. Lucky to win. Brenner played a big part at the end with good defense and hustle.

p.s. - Brenner also had a great clean block at the end of the JV game to save a win for us!

Post up some more pics!.................................please

Brenner had a put back of the Bolyard missed layup and then played good defense at the other end on Schrock to get the turn over. IMO the turning points of the game. The pix below is Sam doing his Lebron pregame impression.

I agree flash......memories of how Simmons came in as a freshman and hit some key three's for us one game.
One of the refs. almost kissed the floor because of that powder........lol Sam is a character...just having some fun.
I gotta say I think #22 played the best defense on Jake that anyone has all season. He stuck to him like glue.

It can be frustrating when they're grabbing you and bumping you all the time, but you have to stay within yourself and maybe not score as much, but get more assists or rebounds. Our problem is the options to score consistently are limited. Sam did score and that helped and with Groves out it limited more than usual.

Jake was really forcing things last night. I get it though...senior night, your dad in the stands, and Wadsworth making you really work to get the ball....so he felt he had to take advantage of his opportunities.

Really wish we'd stop flying around the bucket on offense...too many charging fouls that could be remedied with short jumpshots instead of wild floaters.

We're still playing a little out of control. I think that's a bit unnecessary, and hurting us in the way of fouls. We're not terribly deep, and when 1 or 2 guys get in foul trouble, we get real thin, real quick.

Thought Ingram played a nice game....and Brenner and Graber gave nice minutes.

Didn't think Max played all too well. We really need him come tourney time. He and Joey and Sam have to score between 6-8 pts a game each.

PS - The Daily Record had Jake for 13, but they credited 2 free throws to him instead of Dillon Corbett. jake only had 11. His career total is 988. Wasson is at 952.

Uh oh, RR1, watch out for an e-mail! They don't like getting called out at the DR, ya know!

I clearly remember seeing Corbett at the foul line...he bobbled the ball as he was about to attempt the first one. I dont recall Jake taking any foul shots.

I compared my notes to the box score, and everything else was spot on.

RR1 no need to defend yourself. Most of us look to your stats over the paper anyway.

Keep it going Red Riders!

^^I wouldn't make a habit of that. Thanks for the compliment though.

FYI: with the win over Madison, it was our 6th straight season of 10+ OCC wins.

One more win over Wooster would give us 16 for the season....most since 2006-07.

I was noting the points and had Corbett with 2 and Jake with 11.
Do'nt the papers get the totals from the official scorers, did they miss it also?

I have a feeling that Jacob will be getting some nice recognition very soon. Actually I am pretty much positive. Congrats on a great career, hopefully many more games to come still.

Please let us all in on it.

OCC POY? All-Ohio? Both?

Neither would be too much of a stretch.

Speaking of the Daily Record, did anyone read today's issue! I remember someone told me that something to that effect was written on jjhuddle by brf, but it had been removed before I could read it!

That article is a joke. Short is a joke. Only a racist would have his players practice in a blacks vs whites scrimmage. He lost his coaching job because his basketball skills weren't good enough. Period!

BRF, I couldn't agree more. Plus I will add this...way to go Orrville for recognizing the Freshman team as well. I was sitting behind Wadsworth parents who mentioned to me that their Freshman teams are never mentioned. They were impressed by Orrville's class.

I just read the article on The DR's website. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

The following statement is indicative of what Coach Short was attempting to prepare them for as is Coach Slaughter as did Coach Smith.
Comparatively, his record was not much different from Smith's in the same span of time.

It's clear what Coach Sly is doing...defense comes first. On nights when your shots aren't falling, you can still play suffocating defense."

Joke or not, did Hostetler make the accusation on jjhuddle?
Did it turn out to be true? It's been +9 months.
You didn't speak on that part of the joke!

Gonna bite my tongue for now. This was a long time coming, and anyone thinking this issue would go away because of a change in leadership in the basketball program was fooling themselves.

Why bite your tongue now, you're a "blogger extraordinaire", and you seem to always have something say regarding Orrville sports.
