The more I look at this, the more I think it's a competitor of the Amazon Kindle DX.

The Amazon Kindle DX retails for about $425 I believe, and is pretty limited in what it does...

The iPad starts at $499, but does quite a bit more..

I think this PC Mag vid shows what I'm talking about.. iBooks, $, etc..

Can't go on about the whole MAC thing. Mainly I won't due to MS paying for any classes I take for my job.

Just had some weird expierences with the MAC back in the day...Back in the day when I didn't understand MACs.

My next purchase might be a MAC...for shit and grins,

(I know of the MAC/Apple from the early 80's, prior to the whole IBM thing...shit I remember the whole cassette loading stuff...where's my cane or walker)

The only reason I would get it is if they have all my textbooks i need on there for a very affordable price.

I'm with you. I like my iPod, but that's only because no other portable media players have jumped out at me.

I used to have a Creative Zen Vision:M but the capacity on those was average at best, and they never upgraded them higher...so I went with an iPod.

Perhaps I should look into getting something different.

Hmm, I guess some people dont understand what was said there. What I said was that people who arent very knowledgeable about technology think that Apple products are the best most highly advanced products around. For example, I know quite a few people who claim, without knowing that theyre wrong, that Apple computers are the very best, top of the line computers available, when you can build a computer that is twice as powerful for much less.

Like I said, people think Apple is the tops in everything that they come out with when companies have come out with devices that are more powerful, easier to program for and design yet they dont carry the Apple name and are forgotten about. Micros, for another example, came out with a MP3 player a few years ago that was just as powerful , just as accessible as the Ipod, yet people are still claiming that Apple are great innovators.

If you all actually read what I said you wouldve understood that point. I thought there were more intelligent posters here.

Like Dlazz stated, Creative Zen came out with some great products that were just as good if not better than what Apple has brought us.

You 2 clowns are the idiots for not being able to comprehend.

Like I said, a lot of people automatically assume that Apple has the best most cutting edge products just by name, which is wrong, if they actually knew anything about specs they would see that, but since they dont know much about hardware they dont, like I said Technologically Illiterate, as in they dont know anything, for example if I asked random Apple owner who thinks Apple is the best tech about the specs of their device they wouldnt know.

How hard is that too understand? Thats like me saying any D3 school could beat OSU in football without knowing anything about the schools, divisions, or even football!

Because its a stupid blanket statement. Just like if I said illiterate tech people only buy PC's because they are cutting edge! See blanket statement. You explained yourself well but the initial post was a blanket statement left at that!

I still dont see how its a blanket statement either. Its pretty cut and dry. Simply its "some people think something is the best without knowing any details" Its like how people will hate on a movie without seeing it. Obviously others got it right away, just because some didnt doesnt make it a bad statement.

People who dont know about something automatically thinking its the best. Thats what I spoke about, I dont know how I could be anymore blunt and to the point anymore than what I said.

In the end the iPad is an oversized iTouch that can act as a much better e-reader and you will have a monthly fee with the iPad.

You are better off just having an iTouch/iPhone (easier to carry around) and a Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader if you really want a good size e-reader as that Kindle app for the iPhone/Touch is on such a small screen that it can get quite annoying.

You don't have to have a monthly fee with the iPad. It has built in wi-fi and requires no data plan.

Oh really? I thought the wifi was extra? Or was that the 3g? Either way, at this point, I dont see how any "big" device from now on doesnt have those features out of the box standard.

I remember when the iPod came out and Duke bought every freshmen one to record lectures and whatnot. This iPad would allow some pretty awesome educational tools to be accessed. Imagine if Duke (a smaller school with a massive endowment) had every student possess an iPad and had every textbook on there. It'd be pretty slick in my opinion. But, couldn't you do all of that on a laptop? Yes, and that's why this thing is pretty pointless. Neat, but pointless.

Nah, Wi-fi is standard..

3G will coast an extra $130 per model though..

Again, this device isn't going after the "laptop" crowd. It's going more after the Amazon Kindle DX crowd (which costs $430 itself)...

When you look at it that way, it's actually not bad at all..

Though, my iPod Touch will suffice me just fine for this use..
