I don't think it was on the Favre hit
it was the out of bounds guy, the defender dove really late at his legs
he missed mostly but had bad intentions

It was a late hit on Favre that was the penalty, it would have been bogus otherwise.

They called it on McCray who hit Favre

What kind of penalty did they throw the flag for, if the clock running out in the quarter negates it ?
