I guess it depends on what you consider a date.

My 12 year old daughter has a boyfriend and they have gone out in groups before. I'm not really thrilled about it.

Depends on who they want to date. ;) My oldest was 15 and would go to the movie with her bf who was also our next door neighbor. So we were very close to him and his family and knew them well. I couldn't stand my oldest son's gf so I kinda drug my feet there.

I counsel my teenagers to avoid serious one on one relationships while in high school. In the case of my daughter: If a young man wishes to pursue a one on one dating relationship with her, he must first have a one on one meeting with me and ask for my permission.

I would say when you can take yourself on the date, then you can date.. Ive known soo many people who have taken their kids somewhere with their bf/gf for a date..that is just hilarious to me!

I think you had two when you were born, you just weren't sure what to do with them yet.

I actually asked my now father-in-law to take his daughter out, and he was shocked. :D

I'll be doing the same as you when I have kids, and if I have sons, I will make them ask "her" father as well.

Agreed. When they have their own drivers license, their own money (which would mean a job), and possibly their own car (haven't decided on that one yet) ... then, they can date.

School dances not included, of course.

Mine is yet to be conceived, but already has a favorite liqueur.

I really don't care. If any of my sons are 12 and ask if they can go to the movies with a girl...I'll let them.

If I had a daughter??? She wouldn't be allowed to date, EVER.
