Really?

Most people are saying 8 wins would be a success for UM next year. Who do you have them losing to and what bowl do you think they will go to? Sorry, I'm just curious.

I feel like UM fans have been saying this for the last 2-3 years and UM still disappoints.

I think 6-6 is very likely, at best 8-4. I went with the under. UM will have 6 or 7 wins next season IMHO.

After this past bowl season, I feel less like the Big 10 needs UM to be good to compete. OSU, Wisky, Iowa and PSU all showed that Michigan is not needed to have the Big 10 be competitive; however, for the greatest rivalry in college football, it would be nice for UM to at least be competitve again.

UM fans that expected anything other then a dissapointing year 3 years ago were dillusional. Last season was just a couple plays away from being a solid year (and a couple away from being as bad as year 1) which is what alot of young teams will go through. They will be better next year but now the offense SHOULD be improved as the young players from last season are now going to have a year under their belts. The problem next year will be on the D, The LBS are a mystery(other then Muton) and the DL will be very good IMO. The secondary only returns 1 guy (Im not counting kovacks or williams I don't expect either to start) but have alot of young talent that could play.

9/4 vs. Connecticut - Push, not sure who UCONN loses from a pretty good team, could be a tough game.
9/11 at Notre Dame - Loss, they will have a lights out passing game and michigans secondary is young and vunerable.
9/18 vs. Massachusetts - Win
9/25 vs. Bowling Green - Win
10/2 at Indiana - Win, even though they barely won this past year.
10/9 vs. Michigan State - Loss, MSU will be better next year
10/16 vs. Iowa - Loss
10/30 at Penn State - Loss - They could win this depending on how Penn states new QB develops, but PSUs running game will be good.
11/6 vs. Illinois - Win - Illinois could be decent or very bad it is hard to tell.
11/13 at Purdue- Loss - Purdue will surprise again.
11/20 vs. Wisconsin - Loss
11/27 at Ohio State -Loss

Worst Case 4-8
Best Case 8-4 Sure Losses vs OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa and MSU.

Even with a bowl game I am going to go under. I think they win 7.
ND's lights out passing???? I was sure Jimmy Clausen declared for the draft...... oh and Golden Tate as well, who's filling those shoe's???

IMO, basically since Rich Rod has been there that has been there story. But at least he's turned every program around in his second year. :D

Michigan was 3rd in scoring in the big ten last year, so I think they did a pretty fair job on offense. The defense was the problem last year and it sounds like it will be the problem again this year.

^^FWIW, in Big Ten conference games, UM scored fewer points per game than Ohio State.

So yes, their defense is their biggest problem, but offensively they can still get better.

Excellent point. 63 against Delaware State shouldn't count.

That is a good point and I agree. I didn't think their offense was bad, but I also didn't watch them much after the start of the season. I just looked again and they only scored 10 points against PSU, 13 against Illinois and 10 against OSU.

I do think until the defense comes around they are not going to do much better in the conference.

Wow, I originally picked the over...because UM should easily win 8 games a year always....but after looking closely at the schedule....8 wins will be an accomplishment. I think RR needs 8 including a bowl win to keep his job.

I agree with georgemc80. After looking at the schedule again, I am not sure if they can get to 6-7 wins this year. I'm looking at the schedule to see which game I can take my five year old son and make sure they win. It's hard to pick one, probably Bowling Green but even that one worries me a bit. Can we have a thread about the Michigan diving team, I seen on mgoblue.com they are supposed to be pretty good.

Now that the season is over, it seems Tate's injury was more of a hindrance than we may have believed. He surely wasn't nearly as good after the injury.
The shoulder injury Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier played through last season was a slightly torn labrum in the shoulder, a person familiar with the injury said Friday.
Forcier was diagnosed with the injury when he underwent an MRI while home for Christmas break. He’s rehabbing the shoulder now and doesn’t need surgery, and he’s also recovering from a staph infection in his right knee, the person said.
A Michigan spokesperson said the university does not comment on players' medical histories, and Forcier declined an interview request through the sports information department.
Forcier, who started every game for Michigan last year as a true freshman, originally injured his throwing shoulder during the Wolverines’ fourth-quarter rally against Indiana.
He appeared to be in incredible pain when a teammate slapped him on his right shoulder after directing the game-winning touchdown drive.
The injury was first reported as a sprain.
Forcier threw for 2,050 yards and 13 touchdowns last year, but struggled down the stretch as Michigan whimpered to a 5-7 finish, losing 7 of its last 8 games after beating Indiana. He also suffered a minor concussion in an October loss at Iowa.
Forcier already is taking part in workouts with the football team and will not miss any spring practice.

Hmmm lets see Crist was a 5 star QB out of High School. You have Micheal Floyd and you will have 4 to 5 WRs in a formation at all times. Brian Kelly put up points with Pike and Collaros I'm sure he can do it with Crist and Floyd. Also the UM secondary is young and vunerable. Notre Dame hasn't been able to run the ball in years.... they will be chucking it all over the field again in 2010. Throwing it right into Michigans weakness. Tate will have to pull out an even better performance this year to win. Oh yeah for got about rudolph one of the best TEs in the country.
