If Alabama wins tonight should he be considered the best college coach? He already has 1 NC in 2004 with LSU and you have to think he would have at least 1 more had he stayed in the college ranks.

Then wouldn't Mack Brown get the same consideration if he wins?

Saban would have done it with 2 different programs.

But how many current coaches have done it at all?.....and Brown's would be the most recent.

It's not like he would be doing it with, say, Cincinnati and NC State. He did it with LSU and Alabama, two of the traditionally better programs in college football history. Mack Brown possibly having 2 at Texas=Nick Saban possibly having 2 at 2 different schools. All 3 schools are on the same level.

Yes, he is outstanding and 2 national titles puts him in there with a lot of greats, but the fact that he did it at 2 different programs shouldn't have anything to do with it.

This is obviously moot point if he loses tonight but he's still a damn good coach win or lose.

No Saban is not the best college coach. Larry Kehres gets that distinction.289 wins, 22 losses, and 3 ties (.925 winning percentage and 10 national titles.

Maybe Meyer and Peterson. Not Kelly.

If your talking the Kelly from Cinci..he is just a clone of Charlie Weiss and wont last too long at ND IMO.

How do you figure he's a clone of Weiss?

He was a DC before becoming head coach at GVSU. He used offense to win games this year, but if you watched UC last year you know that our defense won games for us. The year before that Kelly's UC led the country with 26 INT's. Kelly can win games with offense or defense and he's proven to do so without the athletes like some of the bigger programs.

As much as I hate to say it, he'll bring success back to ND.
