You can't trade for Cousins, Cleveland would be a bigger shitshow than the Lakers were during the Howard/Nash yearLaley23;1863437 wrote:Disagree completely. Cavs are in a year to year mode for titles. Who gives a fuck about 2018-19? Go win a title next year.

I think your thought process is spot on.Laley23;1863446 wrote:As long as LeBron is here, Cavs will be win now year to year basis. As soon as he leaves/retires, they are gonna rebuild. Not trading for Cousins would be dumb just because he has 1 year. Either you like Cousins (or anyone) and think he helps win a title or not. If yes, make the deal if not, don't make the deal. But it shouldn't have anything to do with years.
But that's just my thought process. I'm sure most disagree. But, to me, there is no "future" with the Cavs past LeBron. It becomes an immediate rebuild.
Unless Kyrie has napalmed the situation, LBJ should be the bigger man, they should all sit down and try to come to some kind of an agreement, at least for 2017-18. KI is not going to be dealt to a better situation than Cleveland.
Although I do kind of see Kyrie's mindset in that you don't play "with" Lebron, you play "for" him and his ring chase.
Hell, I think Kobe asked to be traded 2-3 times from LA and he never left there. Cavs have the power here. They don't HAVE to deal KI.
I'd see if they can get them to play together one more year and then see what Lebron does. Should he decide to leave, as you said, they are going to blow this up and KI & Love will be dealt anyhow.
Again the Cavs, NOT Kyrie, have the power here.

Exactly, he is under contract for 3 years (locked up for 2 as the third year is an option). The Cavs don't need to panic and they shouldn't settle for anything less than the kitchen sink. Sick of fucking NBA players trying to pull this shit. Kyrie didn't play his cards correctly.BR1986FB;1863460 wrote:I think your thought process is spot on.

It's time for all parties to stop being passive aggressive about this shit. Lebron, Kyrie, and Gilbert need to grow up and have a conversation.
I remember awhile ago, that ironman posted about how he learned a long time ago that most pro athletes end up disappointing you. Most people don't realize that until they get older. I feel bad for the kids who look at Lebron and Kyrie as heroes.

Lebron has nobody to blame but himself for this shit. He created these monsters with their "empowerment."like_that;1863462 wrote:Sick of fucking NBA players trying to pull this shit. Kyrie didn't play his cards correctly.
Hell, the new rumor out there is that it was Lebron who released this info about KI's demands.

I don't think it'd be stupid for the cavs to look at both the short and long term when looking at deals for Kyrie.Laley23;1863446 wrote:As long as LeBron is here, Cavs will be win now year to year basis. I get they're in win now mode, but to me that doesn't mean sell Kyrie Irving (possibly a top 5 NBA player) for a year of a top 10 player.

This I agree with. That's why the Sacramento deal is kind of enticing. Fox is a player you can build around in the future and can help this year obviously he's not kyrie but if you can get some solid players with fox and picks you almost have to think about taking it. Plus it opens up some cap space.SportsAndLady;1863468 wrote:I don't think it'd be stupid for the cavs to look at both the short and long term when looking at deals for Kyrie.

I love KI, but he is not a top 5 players in the NBA. Only Cavs fans would even entertain that thought.SportsAndLady;1863468 wrote:I don't think it'd be stupid for the cavs to look at both the short and long term when looking at deals for Kyrie.

And, I am not saying to abandon the future. I'm simply saying if a player you think can help you win this year is available make the trade, even if its 1 year. Like PG would've been a great example. Obviously if you can get a great player for longer that's ideal, but settling for a lesser value for longer is not a better option to equal value shorter for the Cavs.

Either way, my main point is to not settle for less just because of years.

I don't see how they trade Kyrie for anyone that drastically helps them win a title next year. They need more offense and haven't been able to address that this offseason. Now we're trading our point guard who averaged 29ppg in the finals.

I think they need defense and better bench. Yes, they will have to replace his scoring, but that CAN be done. He was awful in the 5 games of the Finals without LBJ on the floor...which was not very often lol.friendfromlowry;1863561 wrote:I don't see how they trade Kyrie for anyone that drastically helps them win a title next year. Zack Lowe has a good article on ESPN right now detailing how they could trade Irving to about 20 different teams. None of the scenarios seem very promising.
Edit: Also, I don't wish any ill will on him. Everyone has their reasoning for what they want do with their career and who are we to judge. But there's a small part of me that hopes he ends up with New York or Brooklyn and wastes a couple years of his prime with a miserable organization.

^^This. More offense is not going to beat Golden State. Don't even bother trying to run with them.

There is no way in hell that the Knicks take back Rivers and Wesley Johnson for Melo along with missing out on a 1st round pick.

28 year old former MVP. Great deal for the Cavs.
