I've seen some reports that there are gonna be even bigger names that have been let go, they just have announced it yet.

Mark May is gone. While it's awful that he lost his job(sucks for anyone in this situation), this was SO LONG overdue.

I could see Vitale since they have basically cut his work to 1 game a week. But Herbie would be really, really hard to believe.

Herbie would shock me and lead me to believe ESPN would die in the next 10 years

Watching Sportscenter this morning for a few minutes. They have Le Batard on. They try to ask him some draft questions which makes him angry because he admittedly didn't watch any of the draft. He spends a couple minutes talking about: taking a rhinocerous in an animal draft, a video clip of some Raptors players farting on an airplane. They show another clip of Bomani Jones hinting that Le Batard and his father pass gas on the set of their show, which angers Le Batard and he (playfully?) walks off the interview and doesn't come back.

That, is entertainment ESPN thinks they cannot go on without.

Saw something other day that the morning of the layoffs, they had an anchor on talking about her Etch-A-Sketch drawings of athletes.

I can't imagine, he is the talent of their two biggest shows: Gameday and the Saturday night game.

In my opinion, this is not bad in any way. 80% of these people being let go will be a hot commodity on the market, and they will get picked up almost immediately. The sports world will be better off as the competition strengthens their hold on their respective markets. I'm all for the demise of ESPN. Go ahead and can Herbie. Let FOX swoop him up.

I don't think any of us think this is bad. If ESPN wants to go all in with hot taek central and fall apart, we are all for it. They really need to hit rock bottom and hopefully come back to what made them so popular.

Agree with those above. Still feel shitty for any families that now have to uproot their current lives if that wasn't something they hoped to do.

Early on at my friend's draft party, I found this out. We were happy.

You weren't blacked out by then? Not impressed with your performance.

That was Mina Kimes. She is actually very good journalist IMO. But yeah stuff like that is dumb even though I do like the drawings and I'm amazed at how good they are.

This was at the beginning; the blackout came later. I remember about the first 6-7 picks of the draft and have this vague memory of eating cheesecake, looking at my phone, seeing it was 5 a.m. and being like, "Oh...shit...I'm fucked..." lol.
