Historically, those QB's aren't backing up the GOAT, Tom Brady. It's kind of hard to tell if Garoppolo is indeed a franchise QB when he's sitting behind the 8th Wonder of the World, as far as QB's go.Al Bundy;1842364 wrote:Historically, backup QBs who have been traded are good much less than 2/4.

Please explain? JG threw for over 5000 yards, 53 TD's and (I believe) 9 INT's his senior year in college. The Patriots drafted him in the SECOND round, which is the highest they've drafted a QB in 20 years, including the GOAT, Tom Brady. You can babble all of this "Jimmy G sucks" and "system QB" that you want to, but I'd say a better talent evaluator than either of us, Bill Belichick, disagrees.sleeper;1842322 wrote:Jimmy G sucks. I'd trade a 3rd rounder at best for him...in 2018.
If the Hoodie didn't think this guy was the real deal, he wouldn't have burned a 2nd rounder on him when 2nd's are like gold to him (Belichick). In fact, I think he almost values them more than 1st's.

He has dug in...so until Jimmy G becomes a franchise QB he will be "right" and when he does become a top tier NFL QB he will claim he told you so.

So we just throw away several high picks on a guy who has played two games in the nfl and put up big numbers against little colleges?BR1986FB;1842430 wrote:Historically, those QB's aren't backing up the GOAT, Tom Brady. Of course the Pats are going to say he looked great in practice. Brady said the same thing about Hoyer when we signed him.

Do we really need to go down the path of using college stats to project performance in the NFL? Do you want to check Weeden's college numbers and compare? Or how about all of the other QBs you've gushed over that completely busted in the NFL?BR1986FB;1842448 wrote:Please explain? The reality is this, Jimmy G was passed on almost twice by every team including those that needed QBs. He was drafted behind such studs like Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, and Teddy Bridgewater. So you mean to tell me that all of those teams talent evaluators missed that badly on Jimmy G and since he's played a few games on the Super Bowl Champion you think he's worth a 1st and 3 2nd round draft picks?
Sorry, Jimmy G played in a shit conference and posted good stats in his final year of college(check his junior year if you want a laugh). He hasn't done anything to PROVE to me that he's worthy of a starting role on a team much less a player that can turn around a franchise that is beyond garbage. This is Matt Flynn, Matt Cassel all over again.

Stop trolling dude. Jimmy G is the best backup QB of all time and will lead the Browns to the promise land.Al Bundy;1842515 wrote:So we just throw away several high picks on a guy who has played two games in the nfl and put up big numbers against little colleges?

Please do. Stash it with the "Derrick Rose is terrible and will be out of the league in 3 years after winning his MVP" and the "I wouldn't trade Kyrie Irving for Steph Curry" post.SportsAndLady;1842526 wrote:Saved for future laughs.

I guess I don't understand how that is a great prediction. Out of the league in 3 years = scoring 18 ppg 6 years later?sleeper;1842527 wrote:Please do. 2 games makes him a franchise QB? We'd have a better chance of finding a franchise qb if we just draft a QB with each of the 4 picks that you want to trade for him.SportsAndLady;1842520 wrote:Omg how dare the browns focus on trying to obtain a franchise QB!!

WTF does this have to do with what the "Patriots say?" I'm going off what just about EVERY NFL analyst, that I've read, says.Al Bundy;1842515 wrote:So we just throw away several high picks on a guy who has played two games in the nfl and put up big numbers against little colleges?
Of course the Pats are going to say he looked great in practice. Brady said the same thing about Hoyer when we signed him.
From JG's original scouting report, he has improved areas of weakness. He's poised, makes quick decisions, goes through his progressions and is accurate. His biggest "downside" is that he got injured last year, and that was on a late hit.
From all accounts I've seen/heard, if given the chance, this guy should be the real deal....not a system QB.
But because he sits behind Tom Brady, he's destined to become either the next "headcase" (Ryan Mallett) or the next "only completed 20 passes in college and hardly saw the field" (Matt Cassel). BTW, comparing JG to these two is just sensationalist, over the top ridiculousness (I wasn't referring to you, Al, with this comment).
I can't guarantee he's going to be a franchise QB but passing on him because "he's only played in 2 games" or because "Matt Cassel & Ryan Mallett sucked" is just ridiculous. If we want to play that game, I can come back with "Matt Schaub pretty much never saw the field with ATL before being traded to Houston and he was pretty damn good for a stretch." Kind of works both ways.

That's not what my post said. If the browns trade for JG, that is them focusing on trying to get their franchise QB. Whether or not he becomes the franchise QB is the question.Al Bundy;1842594 wrote:2 games makes him a franchise QB? But if they don't do that trade, keep their picks and use them on other positions, and roll into the season with shit QB's , that is them NOT focusing on acquiring a franchise QB.
I'd rather they at least try and get a franchise QB than not try.

Interesting comments from Butch Davis regarding Randy Lerner. I thought Butch could've been a helluva coach here if he would've kept his fingers out of the personnel "pie."

92.3 had Jason La Confora on this morning (I know, not a C-Town fan favorite) and he seems to believe that Belichick isn't necessarily looking for a 1st rounder in return for Garoppolo. La Canfora thinks that the Hoodie just wants "value" in return. Exactly what "value" means I guess is open to interpretation. Belichick seems to covet 2nd rounder's as much as other teams love 1st's. I've thought that if the Browns package up some 2nd & 3rd rounder's that might be enough.

It's possible but I thought that was Schefter saying he wouldn't be traded under any circumstances. La Canfora may have mentioned multiple 1st's, at one point, but I'm pretty sure he's been of the belief all along that JG could be had.Commander of Awesome;1842933 wrote:Didn't Jason start the whole NOT TRADING JIMMY G, and Hoodie wants a multiple 1sts for Jimmy G rumors?
