I haven't seen Christie being considered for any cabinet role. In fact, he was recently released from the transition team because of a spat with Trump's son-in-law.

At this point. I think Trump has an idea of who he wants, but right now he is probably just leaking things left and right to get a feel for certain people.

Yes, If you're in the military.

In addition to that, although as a stand alone position it doesn't seem like it should garner too much concern, at this stage, as another appointment, it can continue to shed some light on the type of staff, ideology and culture the President is seeking to create.
