This team will be awesome to watch the next few years. Especially when you got high level prospect guys coming up soon in zimmer, Diaz, mejia, Bradley, jones, Mackenzie etc.

I'm not really questioning your fandom either Zwick, only your assertion that the team was not fun to watch. If you were indeed watching....the team was fun to watch all year.

Look, we traded Sabathia for an All Star outfielder. We traded Lee for Carrasco....Lee didn't have much left in the tank...would have been a crime to sign him to the long term deal he extracted.
Didn't Cliff Lee make 3 all star appearances after being traded?

My Indians account says I've been a season ticket holder for 28 years.....which actually is 30 out of 32....I took two years off when my kids were little, too. Herb Score sold me my first plan. LOL I hope you pick it back up....I did, and my kids grew up to love baseball and to play it on a high level...we are a baseball family :)

I got home at 4. I made it into the office at 10:20. Not too shabby I don't think but I'm on autopilot today. Brain not functioning.

I agree with most of what was said here reflecting on this team and this season. There was a guy behind me last night who was in from town from Atlanta for the game. Tribe fan but it was clear he hadn't watched much of them this season. At one point, I had to turn around and tell him..."It's 5-1. You can quit and go home but the players in that dugout won't. We've probably won 15 games this season after being down for the count."

And that's how it went. Resilient bunch. A team we will be telling our kids and grandkids about...just a shame we came up 1 run short.

And to echo Fab's sentiment...when Davis hit that home run...I'll never forget it. Unbelievable moment. It was pure pandemonium. Strangers hugging each other.

I think Ramirez finds his way regardless. Tito couldn't keep him out of the lineup early on and it lasted all year.

As for next year, ugh. Should be a solid team again, but man, I invested so much time and energy into them this year. 162 games and another playoff run (hopefully) just seems like such a burden right now. I know it's the disappointment talking, but damn I watched every inning possibly this season and to come up so short is just deflating. I can't even think of another grueling regular season at the moment. But, when it rolls around, I'm sure I'll watch every game again.

You are correct....my bad... Lee had some good years left...not sure he was worth $24 million/year.

Congrats to the Indians on a great season...nothing to be upset about, against all odds you got there and easily could have won it.

What a game and series! I didn't think the Cubs had it in them after getting down 3-1. Both teams showed a lot of heart...as I said before the series, it's a shame they both reached the same year and that one had to lose.

Great season Indians!

Right? How often, as an adult, do you get to experience something that is just pure joy? Between life, work, marriage/relationships, kids, money, retirement...all the shit you have to worry about every day...to have a moment where the only thing you are worrying about is finding somebody to celebrate with. That's why sports are awesome. That's why baseball is awesome. Special moment.

That game could have ended as a tie...right then and there and it wouldn't have mattered. Thank you, Rajai Davis. It's too bad we didn't go onto win because it would have went down as one of the most famous/important home runs in the history of baseball.

Give me a break. You won 94 frickin games and had worse attendance than the Reds who lost 94. Do you realize the Cubs had more than double the attendance per game than Cleveland did? Go to the games next year, you have a good and exciting team

The pistons were a playoff team last year. Why were they in the bottom 5 of attendance?

Poor attendance is probably from all the successful sports teams that Cleveland has. There's only a limited amount of money for die hard sports fans and with both the Cavs, Indians, and Lake Erie Monsters in a close proximity its hard to attend everything.

Sucks being a relevant and championship level city; how's Detroit doing? LOL

The lions were a playoff team in 2014, why where they behind the Browns (haven't seen a playoff game since 2003) in attendance?

Well we're moving to Denver so unfortunately it won't pick back up anytime soon.

NFL site, http://www.espn.com/nfl/attendance/_/year/2014/sort/homePct
has the browns 27th, in terms of capacity filled, for 2014 and the Lions 18th.

Still averaging way more with a shittier team. Pretty sad a playoff team can't get above 63k.

I just want to know why Detroit playoff teams have shitty attendance numbers, when according to classy they are great fans. Fans who love to eat each other's asses during tailgates. https://www.google.com/amp/deadspin.com/butthole-eaten-at-lions-tailgate-1670931368/amp

Cannot disagree.

Wonder if it has to do price of tickets. Ford Field seems to have a much higher ticket structure than Cleveland. Forget the face value, will have to check the stub, but when I saw the price I figured the seats would have been fantastic (in PItt they would be lower level) but they were much higher.

while we are on the subject....anyone have two tickets for the Browns/Cowboys game sunday they want to unload?

Just go to the Muni lot Sunday morning and pickup a couple off the ground at some point.

Hopefully those season ticket holders that unloaded to Cub fans for bags of cash renew and reinvest that profit for 2017.

Indians still having attendance woes makes sense, the Dolans have lost the fans trust over the last 15 years, the assumption is that even if a good year like this happens, a fire sale is going to blow the whole thing up next time big contracts roll around. Now, even though the attendance still blows, it has creeped up to a higher average under the Tito years as they've been at least .500 consistently.

This is their chance to get the trust back. You had a deep run into the playoffs, the fans showed they will support a winner, build off of the momentum and re-sign guys as well as make some decent offseason moves. Make it look like you care and not that this years shaking of the magic 8 ball just happened to work
