5 year anniversary coming up... We've gone somewhere every year for our anniversary (Chicago, Vegas, New York, New Orleans) so I suppose it should be better than the typical ones. We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon. I'm not against going back to the Caribbean for a 5 year. Leaning towards Hawaii just because neither of us have been there. I'd like to go to Pebble Beach, but I'm not sure she would enjoy it as much. Cabo? Never been there either.

Where did you guys go for your milestone anniversaries?

I have looked at San Francisco. My parents love the city and it looks like a really cool place to visit. My question I guess is for our regular anniversaries, we take just a long weekend and go to a big city, and for our 5 and 10 and such, we plan on taking a whole week. Is San Francisco better served for a long weekend one next year, or would a whole week be fine there?

edit*** I should have mentioned that in the original post that I'd like to spend a whole week wherever we go.****

One can easily find plenty to do for a week in San Francisco.

Yeah I figured if push comes to shove, we could always rent a car and go up and down the coast. Wife wants to see Hearst Castle and a few other places out there.

Living in the Bay Area, I feel like I can tell you plenty to do for a week. If SF isn't enough for you, take a run for a day trip to Marin, or Napa/Sonoma (Wine Country about an hours drive) or head south to Monterrey/Carmel. EZ enough to do/see for a week.

And before you ask, no I dont want to meet up with you while you're here. You suck.

My coworker just went to Iceland for his anniversary. They went for a week and did it all. Sounded like an awesome time.

Obviously not for everyone, gotta be the outdoorsy type.

Yes I wanted to meet up with the most miserable person on earth while I'm on my anniversary trip. Great guess.

Sounds fun to me. My wife's idea of fun is shopping and spa's though. No one's ever confused her with an outdoorsy type of person.

I don't know Zwick… why don't you ask your wife where she'd like to go? :)

Because if it were up to her, we'd have to eat here every time we went out.

25 year - went to NYC for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, 3-day tour of Manhattan, and a Broadway show. Great time.

South Padre Island, TX could be an option. It's only a chip shot over to Brownsville. If you're going all week, maybe donate a couple mornings to help process the new democrat voters coming over the border!

You could always give that money to the poor so they could put food on the table for their families and provide basic health care.

Oh? You're only generous with other people's money? Classic.

I think COA is a turd too (and you're a close second...) but he nailed it, for anniversary trips you can't beat Sonoma & Napa with a side trip over to Bodega Bay.

Throw in a couple days at Napa wineries and you might be in line for 'extracurriculars' .........

Vancouver, Canada was our last get away. Beautiful City. Before that we went to Savannah. That would only work if your willing to have a little more laid back trip.

Whomever suggested Nashville....that is great advice. I surprisingly, really liked our time there.

Another idea might be Charleston, SC.

Nashville is a great city and all but you could just spend 3-4 days there and probably see everything it has to offer. Don't know if Zwick/his wife are country music fans or when there anniversary is but the CMA Music Festival is normally the 2nd weekend in June. I think Nashville is the best for a weekend getaway.

Charleston, SC is an amazing city thought definitely recommend taking a vacation there. I spent 8 days there and wish it could have been 8 more.

I'll agree about Charlston, SC too for a romantic get-a-way. We had a VRBO above the Ben & Jerry's right downtown overlooking the market… perfect location, walking distance to a ton of stuff. We were there in December so we didn't have the beach in our plans, but there are some really nice ones there. Lots of historical places to visit and plenty of bars/pubs to imbibe. Food, especially seafood, was fantastic! Highly recommend Charleston.
